    Tires for 1991 F350 DRW - 235/85/16 or ?

I ran 215s on the dually E350 motorhome, per the factory spec.

    Traveller Smurf (Cubey's '89 van)

I took the van to Yuma this weekend for a VW event, pulling the bug. Temps seem ok, and I heard the thermostat click closed promptly after getting back, shutting it down, and opening the hood. Stayed under 200F during an 80F day today, 45-55mph on the highway, with some wind. I opened the hood...

High pyrometer readings on 6.9L IDIT

Odds are the 85 motorhomes I had wasn't studded with the ATS 085 kit. Turbo kits come with a boost and pyrometer when new, so it had them. You have to stay under 10psi, from what I remember reading.

    What is this bracket for?

A Craftsman 3 ton floor jack would lift the F250 rear but not the RV's rear. Had to use a big (12 ton) bottle jack with a "Bottle Jack Buddy" (the bigger one) for the RV. Haven't jacked up the van any yet, but I carry the 12T bottle jack & buddy for it.

7.3 idi overheated and the c6 started to drip.

They're typically adjustable. There's a little flathead screw inside where the vacuum line goes on. Clockwise for later, counterclockwise for earlier. Do 1/4 of a turn at a time and then road test. Original ones from the factory may not be, but aftermarket are. Or at least the one I bought...

    What is this bracket for?

Where else would you put it in a pickup? The seats don't have room, if it's like the 87 I had.

    What is this bracket for?

I think it's for the factory jack, but I could be wrong.

Yep, drain on the bottom and temperature sensor port on the side. The cheaper aluminum pans lack the port.

Water pump RTV on the housing, stick the gasket to it, and leave the gasket dry on the side that goes to the engine. keeps the gasket in place and it shouldn't leak. Makes it easier to clean off later too.

The RV got to 240 once because I was on a fairly steep gravel road in 80-85 degrees and forgot to turn off AC. I noticed it just before it hit 240 so I pulled over, put heater on full blast and open the hood. No damage done that I could tell. 240 is considered "stop now!!"

This is the only one I know of. Looks in short supply, sold out/backordered on several sites. https://www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/transmission_pans_and_accessories/ford/parts/40281 Get cap screws from a hardware store ahead of time, because the pan I bought came with hex bolts that...

Hm, well the RV ran cooler for some reason for sure. 180-185ish at slower speeds when fully warmed up. The RV ran 200ish until it got a new Motorcraft fan clutch and thermostat. Instantly 15-20 cooler. I could tell the fan clutch was tired though. It wasn't too much more to do the thermostat...

For sale, Motorcraft fan clutch for 6.9/7.3

That part # fit the 85 E350 I had, so it probably fits all 83-94 IDIs.

Front shocks done today. What's with right sides always being totally shot? Left is noisy when releasing but it does at least. Right side is compressed and stays. Thank goodness for that cut out. I don't think it can be done without it. It has an unknown line with a hose on it, running right...

I did remove the radiator cap this evening (totally cool) and it didn't push out any coolant, so it was low. I topped off directly into the radiator. The overflow isn't overly full, so it should be fine. I know for a fact it was a bit low from it leaking from the old water pump and some going to...

Yes, both times. The RV got a Motorcraft thermostat when it got it's new fan clutch, and the van did too with it's new water pump and fan clutch. I didn't have the aftermarket water temperature gauge hooked up until now, so I can't say how it was before. 180 when warmed up at idle is more inline...

    Traveller Smurf (Cubey's '89 van)

Took the van out for a little drive to go pick up a cheap mountain bike with a semi missing ebike kit on it for $25. The aftermarket water temperature gauge that I had on the RV is showing 190, that's a good 8-10 degrees warmer than the RV typically showed at slower speeds. I do have it in a...

Yep. Big states with fewer highways to get around massive geological features. There's only two routes to get into Western Utah from the Western half of Arizona, due to the Grand Canyon. I-15 from Las Vegas (shorter) or US-89 from Flagstaff (longer). They both drop you reasonably close to each...

High pyrometer readings on 6.9L IDIT

The van I got has been running way EGT cooler than the RV, no surprise there, with an extra gear and less weight, wind resistance, and rolling resistant (no dually). Different turbo kit, but the probe is in roughly the same spot on Banks Gen 1 as on ATS 085.

High pyrometer readings on 6.9L IDIT

Agreed. The 27ft RV pulling 1500+ lbs through the mountains without "cold" air intake, due to the rigged up nature of the ATS 085 kit was slow and hot, as low as 1st gear and 20-25mph at 1000-1100° EGT. 55mph at 900-1000° on a 9% grade in a pickup sounds pretty decent.

Oh boy, Ford decided between 1985 and 1989 to make it harder to get at the upper nut on the front shocks. Or maybe I don't remember it being that bad. (edit: it was that bad. looked at pics from 2020) You can't see it. It's reachable from the engine bay side (on the passenger side only....)...
