    In case of EMP

I’ve been looking around at this stuff too as I have a pump or two lying around to test it on... now if only someone with more experience on pumps would chime in. I’m gonna go look at every piece of equipment on our ranch that has a diesel as most have these pumps, and see if one has a top hat...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

For as many miles as it had the crosshatch still looked decent, it was amazingly clean on the inside, it seems it was taken very good care of most of its life.

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Hey man no obvious internal damage and no sludge at all. I’ve decided to keep it a 7.3 bore but the machinist insists on putting sleeves in it. And checking every clearance 5 times over because it blew the frost plug out in such a weird spot.

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

A little update, things have been going very slowly with my babygirl being born and then getting laid off because of this virus bs. However, I did pick up a set of some R&D rails. I’m working on boxing and coating the frame as well as new cab mounts. I’m waiting until things settle down a little...

    Timing the injection pump

Ah, I wondered if it could, I thought it would be a real pain in the ass if even possible.

    Timing the injection pump

Yes the cover needs to come off anyway to do the front main. I would just do that since you’ll be fixing two things in one go rather than putting it back together and finding out that sealer stuff doesn’t do the job on these positive crankcase pressure loving beasts.

    ZF6 same pattern as ZF5

While that is quite the dilemma for you guys with trucks that have the trans or married tcase speedo drives, I have a divorced NP205 and the speedo is driven off the output of that. So for me the only big hurdle is this whole input shaft spacing issue.

    ZF6 same pattern as ZF5

I know this is SOOO old and there might be newer threads on this but this is all that came up when I was searching. As for why I brought this up, I plan on replacing my zf5 in the highboy with a s6-650 zf6 and from a parts truck. I read the write up and how the guy built the custom adapter just...

If you were cracking her open, what would you do?

I had these same symptoms on my 6.9 that I stuffed in my 75 ford. Only reason I knew where to look is when I got the engine it had two head bolts missing, so it was always a concern for me that it might blow out right there. I even studded it before I put it in my truck, but I didn’t have the...

    Tachometer Add on

https://www.mddistributorsstore.com/item/issr8585m/isspro-tach-3-3/8-4-k-no-hrs/1.html Got one of these in my 75 works great. As you can see it’s got the same color code as our factory tach (green and black from the sensor and red and black to power the tach) wiring so just match the wires, set...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Remember how I was saying that it’s usually the young guys asking that price? Well I’m pretty sure that’s from a family around here and one of the grandkids is trying to get every dime he can from it. They also recently sold a 65 f-250 428 with a 5spd overdrive Clark and divorced np205 for...

Wow, makes me want to build my extended cab 79 but CA smog laws are keeping that out of the question for now.

    1968 f250 2wd 360 to 4x4 6.9 swap

Gotta love these old fords with IDI’s. My boss at the local used car dealership I work at is just amazed at the fact that I’m not spending 40 dollars a day anymore on gas. And he was around when these trucks were new so to see how it preforms now makes him wonder why ford never put diesels in...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Thanks you guys. Unfortunately this morning doing some more looking it appears I may have a burnt exhaust valve, there was a few times I let the egts get a little hot so that makes sense for the “ash” I’ll call it. That’s kind of how it feels and acts like once you scrape it of. But you can...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

By hybrid I mean 7.3IDIT crankshaft, powerstroke rods, and a 7.3 block sleeved into a 6.9. That gives me 1/2inch studs but thick cylinders and insane amounts of rod strength. I’m not planning on building a monster amount of power I’m just looking for insane reliability at like 300 crank hp...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Had a buddy come over last night and by pulling the studs we were able to get the head off in the truck, had to unbolt the booster but only just barley. One stud in the back wouldn’t come out of the block so we still had to lift over it. And of course it was the one below the booster right next...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Hmm somewhere I read that the 6.9 heads have a larger opening on the prechamber, I’ll take your word for it though. And the rods ARE the same strength or are they ALMOST the same? I want the strongest possible rod I can get.

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Everyone’s theory on the in cab tank is if you get hit hard enough to have to worry about the tank rupturing AND finding a way to light off DIESEL is you’ve got other things to worry about like the fact that the cab would have to be pushed passed the steering wheel to get into the tank. And yeah...

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Thank you man, I’m only 19 and to already have built my dream truck is definitely a great personal achievement. I actually already have 7.3 rockers on the current 6.9 heads, did that too when I first put it together.

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

So I swapped this engine in and got it running about a year ago. And it’s done everything I asked it to great, except for a couple times the Cali heat has gotten to it because I cheaped out and bought a 2 core aluminum rad instead of the 4 core option and it costed me a head gasket. It is...

Best IDI electric lift pumps + Specs

Holley blue is what I’ve been running on my truck for about a year and I love it. It’s not very loud to me considering what type of pump it is, obviously one of these is going to be much louder than an old click-clack hardware store pump...
