Okay I am building a list from your responses. -Leave the mechanical fan. (was thinking the motor will make more power without needing to spin that and I can control air flow more precisely, but for now I will keep the stock fan, keep it simple for this swap) -Rebuild oil cooler? Yes it does have the factory water separator. What system should I replace it with. I am planning on putting in an electric fan too (read a good write up about doing that). Sent from my RM-940_nam_att_200 using Tapatalk- SnoFord

Hey thanks for the replies, I didn't receive the email notifications that showed I was getting responses to this thread! I ended up buying the other motor for $500 and have decided to go ahead with the swap. I just bought the factory service manual (on CD) and have been looking at this thread...- SnoFord

LOL I didn't say how fast I wanted to go over the passes! I know this engine isn't as powerful as my 7.3 Powerstroke, but with the ATS turbo I think it can produce enough power and torque to pull the trailer faster than 20 mph...- SnoFord

79jasper- It sounds like the rings are shot with all of the blow by noted, I think it would be a full rebuild. I asked the diesel shop and about just doing gaskets and they said it will make the engine perform even worse. Basically creating more pressure in the motor and driving more air through...- SnoFord

Hey fellow Oilburners, I live up in Washington State and just recently purchased a '86 F250 Ext Cab, 4x4, with the 6.9 IDI, C6 Auto, it has a ATS turbo on it, and is straight piped with a 5" exhaust stack :sly. I thought I was buying a good running truck (the odo says 89k but the PO didn't...- SnoFord
