    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

well it is still pretty cool around here. I think I will put another motor raft t-stat in. Can you get one that runs cooler than I believe 190-195* that is in there now? Do they offer a 180* stat. I am also going to get a fan clutch since you can no longer get OEM what is the next best, a...

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

This is exactly what I thought, 220 is hot for running empty. the radiator is a factory 94. I had the tanks removed and rodded out by a radiator shop, so should be good. I had the factory fan clutch and tried two other new clutches. one I modified the spring and did not help. radiator is...

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

normal driving it does not get hot but runs much warmer than I would like hoovers around 220-225. When pulling my boat, or anything for that matter, I can pull things just fine and it can take maybe 10 miles before it reaches its operating temp of around 220. every little hill, I mean a small...

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

It is a factory idi radiator, auto E4OD with a big trans cooler before radiator. i never thought it could be timing. I think it might be a little advanced right now as it seams it has a little more clatter than most idi’S I have heard. I did set it at 9.5* I believe. I could retard it a 1/2...

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

Here are the pics that I got, the front end opening is not as big as the late 80s to early 90 Fords, then add the bumper, this might be part of the problem. A lot of the radiator (about half) sit below the frame rails.

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

I have tried 2 different fan hubs but not a Hayden. For $85 I will have to try one. I will also search face book and see if I can find A A Ron Loder's post and purchase a fan from him as well. Isaac Ristow, do you happen to recall the radiator part number you have in your rig now? thanks

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

I have a new water pump and a Motorcraft thermostat. I did remove the check valve in the t-state housing as well. I used a vacuum filler to fill the cooling system, so no air traps. This engine is in a 75 Ford with a pretty big bumper on the front, possibly not enough air flow at highway...

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

It is defiantly getting hot. I have a good quality digital temp gauge that reads in increments plus I can switch it so it reads out the temp. I compared it with a temp gun and it is on the money.

I thought about that as well, but if I decide to put A/C on, which I plan on doing this summer I will not have room

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

I thought about that but I do not want it on full-time. I removed the spring and tightened it up thought that would help but it did not. I do have a new Motorcraft thermostat in it and I had the radiator disassembled and the core rodded out

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

I have tried two different fan clutches along with the original one. I can never hear the fan come on and it will over heat if I let it. I did not try an original (new) Motorcraft however. I would like one I could wire into a fan stat.

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

I have not been worrying about cooling since it is winter time here and I do not drive my truck when there is salt present on the road. But now it is getting close to spring I got to thinking about how hot my truck runs when pulling anything. I know the cooling systems and fans have been beat...

So far I only have about 600 mile on the fresh engine. Don’t drive it a whole lot due to the amount of salt they put on the roads in SD. After sitting for about two months I went to start it. The glow plug relay just cycled quickly. Tested the glow plugs and found on the pass side 2 and 4 not...

I have made several trips to town, 70 mile round trips just off the rear tank. I have not changed the selector valve yet. One thing I did notice running on the back tank and when heavy footed the low fuel psi warning comes on. I don’t think the Holley red can supply enough fuel. When I had...

Well this happened. I am getting towed back from my nephew, 23 miles after leaving to town with the wife for date night. Just over 500 + miles of driving and no problems until then. I was driving along and when I stepped into it to pass the fuel psi light and warning came on. After slowing...

After the tests I shortened the spring. Forgot to take pics but I cut another notch to clip the end of the spring in and JB weld it in place, turned it clockwise. Did the same process. Once again forgot to take pics. This time at 220 deg temp the hub pulled to 5.5 lbs. Put everything back...

Sunday the two boys and I took the pickup out for a drive, only put on 250 miles but it was trouble free and ran great. Anyone else have to shut off their pickup when ordering in the drive thru? No big deal, just a little worried how it would start back up and was fine. I did not look at...

I am going to test the engine fan first. If it is good I am going to drive it as much as I can until it is broken in. We had a good 6” of snow and temps are in upper 30s this week. As soon as roads are dry I’ll start driving it to work. Not to fond of driving it on salty slushy roads quite yet

I really do not think it would be an air bubble, as i used a vacuum fill tool and have never had an issue using one of those. Thermostat i am 95% positive I used a motor craft one and did test it before installing.

Yeah, I figured it will perform better once broken in as all engines do, especially diesels. Disappointed how fast it will heat up. When I get a chance this weekend I will test the fan drive and see if it actually working.

For some reason got kicked off site last night and Oilburners could not be found. here it is with boat in tow. engine temp was up to 230 degrees (that is where I had my audible alarm set). EGT was at 880. This was going with the wind down a slight grade. So I turned the pig around and...

Normal driving seams like I have pretty good power. Temps are as follow with nothing behind it. 204 water temp, seams a little high for not pulling but I did have a 30 mph head wind and I was into the pedal pretty hard before I took this pick. Oil PSI 42, 2.4 lbs boost, 580 was my EGT...
