Best tuner for 2004 Chevy 8.1L

I have a Hypertech in an 8.1 Suburban, it works nice but mine was used. I bought for $150 and it doesn't change speedometer calibration for tire size. I also have a Superchips in an 8.1 Avalanche, it was $350 new, I like it better.

Hey Mark, The T304 MBRP Excursion Exhaust I purchased from you, appeared to be 4" from the turbo, not 20" and then expanded to 4", did I miss something?

    Cooper Tires

I am very satisfied with the 285/75-16 Discoverer ATR. Wearing good on both of my trucks. Good rain & snow traction too. As long as you keep them rotated, they stay quiet.

    94 Cummins big bomb

My best friend has a 94' 12v 3500 4x4 dually & likes how my Stroke runs. He just called me looking to get a new clutch installed and wondered where to take it in Michigan to start bombing. I'm glad you guys were kinda already on the subject, but some of these things you are talking about has...

Anyone using the 7.3 coolant filter kit from Bob Riley?

I had to install both of mine the same way, the bolts are too long and would have hit too. That's why I asked what year you had, I wondered if you were speaking of the same clearance issue. I also installed the Trans filter kit, it's quality!

Anyone using the 7.3 coolant filter kit from Bob Riley?

So how'd your install go? I've found the kit to be of good quality. I installed the 203 stat with aluminum housing also. Since I'm there I may as well go all the way.

    Uh..Oh......Turbo........

Dang, I never thought about towing! I Loaded the wifes Excursion on a flatbed a year ago to haul into dealer when HPOP orings blew out. I bet the turbo was turning! It was an hour drive. I'll remember that for the future, thanks! Dennis

    g"day mate

I'm very happy with my 7.3, it would take a huge improvement for me to switch. The T444E motor runs in commercial applications for 500,000 miles before needing replacement. Unloaded 62mph I get 22-24 miles per gallon (US Figures). Unloaded 72mph 18mpg. Unloaded 80mph 16mpg. Loaded 8,000lbs...

Tech articles - how to keep them alive

Ok Roland, I see your point. A FAQ's section with actual data for us to add to and reference with would be great! Thanks for the input! BTW, I love the ebolamonkeyman avitar! I started recieving crap from those Nigerians & started messing with them, but I didn't have time to keep up with...

Tech articles - how to keep them alive

One of the reason's I still go back to TDS is to view "The Little secrets" that a moderator built over there. How could we build a comparable dictionary for the masses to pull data from. Obviously it would need info for all 3 brands.

WELCOME AUSSIEDAVE!!!!! Great to see you here! Hope you find this place to be homebase. We need to help the Tech forums IMO become all they can be. BTW, what do you think about the 7.3 now that it's all that's available? Do you or would you prefer the 6cyl option over the V8?

    Cab sound insulation

Not a bad idea! The metal in a beer can is Aluminum & much thinner than the cab of our trucks which are steel. The comparison is apples & oranges in my opinion. But you are right, if the can is safe, the truck would be too! About a dozen years ago in a Chevy work van, I used liberal...

Great Stuff also makes a non hardening foam that stays flexable, plyable. Have you guys seen this stuff? It supposedly doesn't expand as much and might be a better alternative. I've seen the regular stuff move a cement block in a foundation. I'd be real careful using it in my vehicle.
