Blue Top or Red Top steering gear?

Installed a redtop in a f-250. Was cheap and purchased a Lars for a ranger. There both the same box. I like the Lars better and it is better priced.

Before your install them take them apart and clean. Excessive grease is the enemy especially when cold. Either a very thin grease or oil on the sliding parts. Make sure you have the correct locking nut them.

    1992 f250 dana 50 auto locking hub

Except when manual hubs are locked in you can shift on the fly. Auto hubs manual transfer-case real pain in the ass for icy roads, dry pavement, icy roads etc. When not properly maintained they can leave you stranded in 2wd. No 2wd option in 4 low, 4 low can be nice on dry pavement for...

Do you have an electric shift transfer case? There's an electric clutch in the transfer cases that will spin up the driveshaft to the hubs will lock and the shifting hubs on the transfer case will align.

    Lift pump pressure ???

The pumps are only specked for 4-5 psi and thats in a hypothetical dead head. The fact that fuel is moving and there is pressure drop across the filter 3psi is not unreasonable. Besides you just need to move fuel to the transfer pump in the injection pump and it will boost pressure to what the...

big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

The arm on a FE pump does not appear to go high enough. Holley also stakes the arm pivot so arm replacement is a pain. Carters appear to have a pin that could be driven out.

big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

It is shorter, but take a look at the diagram of the old style idi pump vs new. The arm on the old style is not contacting directly on the bottom but off the side at an angle and the arm could be shorter. It is probably still too short , not enough angle or something of the sort. I found it...

Not sure why you can't see them. Have you tried a different browser? I'll see if I can combine files and upload them, might take a day or twenty minutes. If I did it correctly should be 11 files when all unzipped.

    gas station diesel

This is a interesting paper a little dated with regards to off road diesel. 5th page talks about removing sulfur. I find the sentence stating the use of low sulfur fuel in northern California since 1985.

If that directed at me I never said sulfur was lubrication.

    gas station diesel

I really wonder about the claim that today's fuel lacks lubricity due to the sulfur being removed. Some place I read an article on when they first removed sulfur in Europe they had high rates of failure due to lack of lubricity in fuel. They found the fuel was dry and added lubricity back in.

Wix51085, why do I feel I am at O'riellies ordering oil filters for my wife's jeep. Totally agree with it not being necessary but kind of interesting. Also would need to figure out where in the ~5.58 in crank to cam centerline where the pump mount sits.

    Noise abatement?

I just found 10 pdf files I created from the sounddeadnershowdown addressing each area. I will have to see if I can upload them or create a link on something like google drive. Not a project for 2 am though. Anyone know the upload limit here.
