I have a leak at the 'big nut" holding the oil dipstick holder at the oil pan. is there a gasket that can be replaced behind this nut?

I have a fairly significant leak from from the base of the the dipstick tube (holder). If I back the big nut off where the dipstick tube goes into the oil pan can I replace the seal?

This may sound stupid - you don't have an old gasket stuck to the filter mount - if you do - and it happens frequently - the oil is pressurized coming out - and will bubble like mad - while bubbling & mixing with air - it looks pale & glassy... just a thought....
I plumbed mine off the water pump to the bypass head - from the bypass head to the coolant tank = no problem took less than 90 minutes. If the coolant filter were to clog up, acting as a bypass would still allow the water pump to do its job....
I used used a stainless valve with a brass ball -...
bypass brother - works like a charm - it will catch the sand released from sand cast blocks - I cut my first filter in half & it contained approximately two tablespoons of sand - surprised the water pump is still pushing coolant...
