    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

UPDATE!! Felt like I was leaving everyone hanging. It took awhile to get it figured out. I went to a local diesel only guy after all of my other sources dried up several years ago when covid shut everything down. People just moved on. Anyway, it was the return lines leaking under the plenum...

    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

Yeah, I've never had better than 18mpg. I'm currently getting 16.7mpg because I'm cruise controlling at 60mph to save on fuel. My VW TDI got wrecked by an UBER driver, so fuel is killing me right now. BTW- mileage checked by filling tank to the neck, and trip meter reset every fill up. The...

    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

Almost the exact same symptoms, although I've done none of the testing you have. I also have over 260k miles on the odo.

    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

Thanks for the heads up. I will inspect them. Something I hadn't thought about, especially like your experience, I have no exhaust smell either. Again, appreciate the reply!

    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

Yes, very frustrating. I too have replaced filters and o-rings, have the blue spring. I even replaced the engine fuel filter cap with a BulletProof aluminum one. Did the latter mostly because the plastic one was rounding out, had to use a pipe wrench to get it off. My symptoms are pretty much...

    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

I'm pretty sure it isn't exhaust related. The smell comes into cab whether windows are up or down, and it is a straight diesel smell, no apparent exhaust smell. Raw diesel. I appreciate your reply, but like you suggested about lines, I'll need to look more frequently for leaks to see if a wet...

    DIESEL SMELL IN CAB

First off, I have checked the engine bay for residue and wet spots, none found....yet. Second, no drips found under vehicle whether parked over-night or shortly after driven. Third, neither primary nor secondary filters are wet, nor the connections as far as I've been able to see. Have a...

    STILL CRUISIN'!!

If there was an access plate in the column to service the part without tearing into an air bag system, pulling the wheel, etc... I wouldn't be so snivellie! But seriously... Who TF buries a part like that? Wholly unnecessary! Nobody is trying to compare FOBBED cars with mechanical...

    STILL CRUISIN'!!

I totally agree with the 30 year reply.... doesn't mean I ain't gunna take a whack at the engineering of it all. I mean seriously, a buried part cheaply built? There are just some things that need to be criticized and never repeated!

    STILL CRUISIN'!!

Hey Burners! A useless post, just checking in to say hello and brag about the 1990 in my profile picture. Still running down the road but have to fix the common no starter issue due to busted key switch push rod. Starts perfectly every time with a pair of needle nose to the relay jump start...

    Long time no visit!

All of your points are spot on, however, as a new owner of an '03-bought it straight off the dealer lot in '03, I'm the original owner- when all of these six-o trucks were going down around me, I didn't want my brand new $40k truck to go down hard on me. I used only Fords coolant but was brought...

    Long time no visit!

I actually really like my Six-O. The first few years were tenuous and didn't trust it due to all of those issues, but have corrected the weakest and most deadly points. I like it so much, in fact, I've been thinking of giving up my '90 7.3 IDI for a short bed extended cab 6.0l. I'd tear down the...

    Long time no visit!

Hey Burners, been awhile since I've posted, and typically in the IDI section being my goto for posting due to my 1990 IDI. Whelp.... I also own a 2003 6.0 with appx 250k on the ODO. Here is my ask: "Are there any good and fair independent 6.0 mechanics in San Diego?" I'm not looking for a...

    RADIATOR QUALITY

Well that's weird, when I put in year, make and model, only Bronco's came up, not that one at all. Plus the one you're showing is all alum, where-as the Bronco ones showed plastics. Thanks for the share, but at $550.... I might try the Champion one first.

    RADIATOR QUALITY

Just looked up Mishimoto, they do not have F-250 frames, only Bronco, and gasser. none of the piping would line up, and side mounting is non-existent. And yes, San Diego

Yeeeup... the 190*F purchased directly from Ford parts department It's only about 2 years old as well.

    RADIATOR QUALITY

I went from a 14lb cap to a 13lb- yeah- big change I know.... but have a feeling those pressures contribute to the cheezieness. Here's another thing I noticed, both my factory and new one both gave up on the passenger side at the top. Is there a flow/heat issue in that corner of the radiator...

    RADIATOR QUALITY

Thanks for the input fellas. Now to decide on a 3 v 4 row. I live in Socal, so summers are hot, and I drive a couple of steep hills. Will I benefit from the 4 row, or is it a waste, and does a 4 row crowd the fan? Champion it will be! Thanks again.

    RADIATOR QUALITY

Good morning all. So my now 1 year old aluminum radiator from Napa has blown its top. Yes, it has a plastic top. I can see the coolant running down the back, and am losing about 2 gallons per day. Question is, who sells a quality radiator for the 1990 7.3 IDI? The cheap junk on the market...

barely any heat in cab, seems radiator/water pump below temp as well?

LOLLOLLOL Thanx for the moral support!!! I'm gunna drive my burner home now, and open some bourbon.... I might just smell it, don't wanna risk another ridiculous post in the same day!! :fan::joker: Have a great weekend!!!!

barely any heat in cab, seems radiator/water pump below temp as well?

:wtf:Did I write!!! LOLLOLLOLLOL What a maroon!! Sheesh. Because it is so well insulated, how is it corroding through the fresh water circuit? It's totally surrounded by rubber, plastic or foam, and attached to rubber!! There... that's what I was thinking.... I thought.... sheeeesh...

barely any heat in cab, seems radiator/water pump below temp as well?

Crazy that it occurs within a year on a vehicle!! I work in boating industry, and totally "get" it. Weird in a fresh water application and stray current. BTW- these are aluminum... how does a non-conductive metal corrode through electrolysis, and how would grounding help? What is actually...
