    I got the job!

Thanks guys! I will still be making the videos, only this time when I see people on their cell phones....I'll politely ask them to go hands free.....in my uniform if I am going to or from work. I am so excited to start this career. It will be something that I can retire from years down...

    I got the job!

Well, after nearly 13 years of jamming gears, playing with the big tonkas in the dirt, crawling under trucks with tools to fix things, etc......it has come to an end! I have been accepted into the Vehicle Compliance Program for the Nova Scotia Government. I'll be working in the same area...

    On the rebound!

Sorry all, I was on my (*&)(& Ipad. I HATE that damn thing, but the computer was down with a virus I got in an email. Thanks for the words of encouragement and welcoming me back. I got myself a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup this spring. It's a hard way to obtain such a truck, but it was...

855 Cummins. 350 big cam 4, 15 over with the direct shift pattern (non horseshoe) and 3.73 eaton 40's. She's the perfect truck. Turn really good, and makes lots of noise!

    On the rebound!

Here's the 1939 mosin project I built over the last year or so. Bought it as a bone stock rifle. I dropped it in the archangel stock, cut the barrel at 20.5" long, 11* target recrown, ATI scope mount, custom made bolt handle, custom made bolt knob, custom made fore stock rail, ncstar...

    On the rebound!

Some pics to show what I've been upto lately. 1976 Ford L9000 I drive and maintain. I'm pretty anal about her! My hobby 7"x12" lathe. I'm using it to do gun smithing on the side. Vicki's new car. 2014 Ford Fiesta SE. Vicki's old car, 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE. Not mint, but...

    On the rebound!

Hi fellow oil combusters! Miss me?! Wel, things have been up and down since I sold the blue 1993 I had. I sold the Regal, and bought a MINT (and I mean absolutely mint) 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with the Comp G package. Paddle shifters, heads up display, FE3 suspension, etc...

    Hino 338 vs. Freightliner M2 106

If it were me, and the truck wouldn't be running up the highway with 30 000 pounds on it.....I would get the Hino. The cost of a breakdown is higher, and the parts might be harder to get....but look at how many times it breaks down...hardly EVER.

1800 lbs and Little Squat in Back

7 pounds a piece. 263 blocks. 1841 pounds. Just started riding good. I don't have pictures of the second load. We were getting a bad snowstorm, so I went and loaded up a load half for weight and half to get more blocks home. Had 544 blocks in ONE load. Stacked them from front to...

    Curb weight?

7200 pounds with me in it and a tank of fuel. My truck was a 1993 F250 ex. cab, long box, ZF S5-47, D60 swap and a 7.3 non turbo.

    IDI to 12v pics

I roll over laughing in a pool of urine everytime I popped the hood and some kid was like "you should chip that, it'll be WAY faster" I had to stop myself from punching little know it all in the forehead...they think ALL diesel engines in ford trucks are PSD's. 90% of them can't understand...

    IDI to 12v pics

Calvin, there is an ANTI cummins group?! From browsing on Youtube, I thought that the cure to ALL truck problems was to install a Cummins....even if it's not engine related?! LOL I am just yanking yer chain. I am in the process of gathering parts to do a 12V swap in a 1995 CCLB...

    30MPG IDI

I usually just keep it in double OD and let the jake do the work. If I see the ROM start to creep up, even 100 - 150 RPM, I'll split back into OD and let the jake do the work. It usually stops the speed increase and starts slowing down just doing that.....even grossing 110 000 pounds.

    30MPG IDI

You get soem BIG diesel power....like an ISX cummins, C16 Cat, etc and you don't need that extra run on. I haul 2.5 tons more legally on my truck, than an 18 wheeler can haul. I see them blowing past me like seabiscuit downhill, and I catch them on the uphill side of things. That's the...

    30MPG IDI

You do that in a BIG truck, with a CDL and the DOT catch you....you won't be doing it EVER again. It's 100% illegal in all of North America I believe with a commercial truck!
  20. Goofyexponent

    30MPG IDI

mexican overdrive (neutral with the engine ON) is illegal.....imagine what they would say if they found out he was operating a commercial vehicle in neutral with the engine OFF on the highway. DOT would crap a chicken!!

    Idle Fuel Consumption

I think we went through this before abotu the gas gen set...and IIRC the little 1500 watt genny won't put enough amps out for the block heater.

Thanks! Almost to 30 years old....WOW! And you're right about the WANNBE part. with a 102" wheelbase, you couldn't fit more than 2 members of the soccer team in it!

Try and FIND that yoke anywheres else!! I drove around for a year with my ZF in the truck and no front shaft because I couldn't locate a yoke for the double cardan joint in the front shaft. And NO, the F250 shaft will not properly work in a ZF conversion becasue the angles are too steep...

10 speed eaton fuller or road ranger behind a 7.3 IDI has it been done

most of the smaller tanssy's were put on smaller engines. The engines in that category (dt466, cat 3116, cummins 8.3, etc) have an RPM redline similar to that of an IDI. So long as the engine isn't cranking upto 4000 RPM (let's not get into that debate again!!!) the I forsee no real...

    Idle Fuel Consumption

If I need to idle the big truck at work, I make sure to set it upto about 1300 RPM. And even then, I won't let it idle for more than 10 minutes. No point in wasting fuel, but also a complete rebuild for a 15 liter cummins is like $20 000
