    Wiring Troubles 1993 7.3 IDI

Use dialectic grease on the rings when you put it together. This will slow the corrosion if not stop it.

The cylinder heads are HEAVY! Over 110 pounds for each assembled head.

    Glow plug controller questions.

It is my understanding that the controller uses resistance to determine if the circuit is good or not. An open part of the circuit (bad glow plug) will cause the controller to stop functioning. This is why we check every glow plug individually (about 1 ohm resistance) to make sure they all are...

    Pre Swap Considerations?

Pismo Beach 'used' to allow us to drive on the beach AND the dunes to the East of the beach. This was back in the 1970s and 1980s. We would go camping with dune buggies and Jeeps. Racing up the dunes but only 25mph on the beach. California closed Pismo to ALL traffic some time ago...

To check the codes you need to connect a OBD code reader to the OBD connector located on the left side of the BOTTOM dashboard. Follow the instructions of the Reader to get the codes.

White and gray snoke under hard acceleration

Black smoke indicates some over fueling, like when you stomp on the throttle to pass another vehicle. White smoke is probably oil consumption. Is your oil level going down in the oil pan?

    Power steering pump cap o-ring

The lack of an o-ring on the cap is to vent the pump. Fluid will not create a vacuum as the fluid level drops.

Unknown starting issue. Problem almost certainly lies with operator.

The reason for dual batteries is the current flow to the starting systems. A single battery will have barely enough current to run the starter AND glow plugs. YOU NEED two batteries!

    7.3 CA smog equipment

This is true with Commercial trucks in most counties. "We" are North of the Bay Area and do not need DEF or the other BS. South of Ukiah, about 35 miles, in Sonoma County, the smog rules do apply so you will need the latest smog equipment.

    Fuel line clogged

It probably just quits working. A solenoid is an "off and on switch".

    A/C blows fuse #9 immediately

There is no reason for a diode on a compressor. It looks like a wire connection.

    89 350 non turbo 7.3

Your batteries need changing AND clean up the cables that connect the batteries. Bad connections are the #1 cause of slow/no starts. Don't go cheap. Get decent batteries!

    drive line angle

This is why they make angled shims for the differential. You can change the angle of the yoke to sorta match the tranny output shaft.

    hello

Welcome to Oil Burners! The 6.0 engines are very nice until you need to change a head gasket. They are rough on head gaskets. I really liked my 2004 6.0 and sold it to a friend who liked it until he had to change the injector pump with a locally sourced one. Something with the injectors...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

You had better do some welding OR you will be doing this again.

Massive voltage drop when attempting to start; new batteries

Starter maybe shot. It is drawing too much power. Is it turning over pretty fast or lugging?
