Doing oil cooler. Is this trick legit?

Found this: https://www.oilburners.net/threads/oil-cooler-rebuild-for-dummies.20121/#post-228845 Talks about unbolting the back and leaving front bolted on, then tapping rear housing so separate it from front and you can fish it out without jacking up the motor? Is this legit, or a good way to...

    Sudden air intrusion

I had debris clog the line after working for some time. kinda luck of the draw if the little floaty or sinky bits get sucked into the tube. When it happened, mine would run for a bit (barely) if i floored it. then die.

    Sudden air intrusion

Does the switch work? Maybe you're still pulling from the (empty) tank. If that's fine, I'd check the water separator - maybe bypass as a test. This is probably a more structured (better) approach Try using fuel can direct to fuel pump trick. See if that runs fine. The idea is to find some...

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

The white smoke... Retarded timing? I haven't timed it yet. Could that affect initial RPM? RPM issue from low fuel pressure from weak lift pump (Till RPMs ramp up)??

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

That's what was happening before I fixed all leaks in the return system. Very annoying and kinda PITA to get all the leaks (took several rounds for me).

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

Before injection pump - draining fuel from the filter? The return line system is tight. I can check the filter is still full before I fire it up.

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

Got a chance to try it. Push to floor and start. Brown truck fires right up at high Idle. White one (the one I'm working the bugs out of) fires up, but slow after a few seconds, it comes up to normal RPM - seamed slower today to get up to normal idle. Noticed a fair amount (maybe a lot) of...

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

I'll try it this weekend. Hopefully I'll get some time with my trucks.

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

I think so, but I don't normally push pedal to the floor to set it. Should I be doing that before I start it?

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

Didn't look. I know the return lines are leakproof. Fires right up after sitting for weeks.

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

Starts right up after waiting for glow plugs. Only thing it runs really slow for 3-5 seconds (maybe 600RPM ), then runs normally. Anyone had this happen? Curious what would cause this?

    We're rich!

And I was thinking $7 a gallon diesel would make these trucks cheap again.

    Project Little Foot

Yeah without it, the hose moves around, and I don't like it going back by the exaust. I figured I would put it in place and then tighten up the nut, but with the nut tight it flop around without the zip tie. Not sure I like the zip tie on the steel line, but maybe the lesser of two evils.

Got time to finish up the power steering system. So now I have Borgson steering shaft, Lee power steering pump, and a Red Head steering box. Together they took out all the slop. I used to have about 3-4 inches of play in the wheel. Now I have none. Turn the wheel, and the wheels start...

Got the cooler installed this weekend. Next need to get the pully and bracket from the old pump and put it on the new lee and get some trans/power steering hose to plumb it.

    Project Little Foot

Hopefully I'll get some time to spend on it this weekend. I sent the redhead core back today. While getting the oil out of the box cranking from stop to stop to pump it out, some if it was pretty black. Maybe chewed up seal material. Must have done something wrong with the reseal. The new...

F350 80-86 Fuel Selector Valve Connector replacement

Oh crud. I bought a selector valve a while back, but it's been sitting on the shelf. Never looked inside. I better check the connector. I have 86 F350. Hopefully it's got the early connector on the valve. Otherwise I need to scavenge a newer connector.

    Project Little Foot

Well after getting the lights going, I decided to move it to another part of the yard. Blew the pitman arm seal in the steering box I had resealed. Got a new seal, and put it in. Didn't blow out, but was leaking. The hell with it. Bought a red head steering box, lee pump, and got a cooler...

4WD IDI C6 are hard to find?

I'm gonna stick with diesel C-6 4 wheel drive and not try any swaps. Even if it takes a while to find one.
