    Missing And Smoking

It would be nice if you could get your reman'd injectors pop tested. If it's running really rough, you can try cracking the injectors one at a time to see if one (or more) cause it to run less worse, or no change. FORDF250HDLT, as I recall, you haul heavy and have a turbo on your rigs. Both...

    Glow plug relay question

Could be a bad relay. Check the ground wire on the controller, if it is broken or grounding poorly, that could cause you grief.

8 degrees BTDC is too retarded. The collective wisdom here recommends about 9.7 degrees BTDC.

    Glow plug relay question

Then you don't have to wait. :D Seriously tho, watch your volt meter. Does it drop to about 8 volts when the the glow plugs are supposed to be glowing? The glow plugs draw a lot of power. You'll notice a substantial drop in voltage when the controller is activated.

WMO centrifuge system finally up and running!

Centrifuge Update: The Hyundai power steering pump can no longer make enough pressure to get the 'fuge to 90 psi. I considered monkeying around trying to get a Ford power steering pump hooked up, but it just seemed too difficult to plumb into the system. So, I decided to go a different...

    Can't get injection pump out

As long as it takes. :D It usually takes me about 3 good cranking sessions. You can pull the "easy to get to" glow plugs out to make it easier to crank. Hook up the battery charger. I usually put the line nuts on only finger tight until the fuel starts coming out, then I snug them down...

    1986 f250 6.9L turns over, no start

Are you getting white smoke out the tail pipe when cranking it? No white smoke, no start. It has to turn over fast enough, or it won't start. As fast as the engine in this video: The stock 1986 6.9L had the old round style glow plug controller at the back of the engine on the drivers side...

    Can't get injection pump out

I think there is an o-ring on the snout of the pump. If it looks like there's a gasket between the pump and the timing cover, maybe some "clever" person put some silicone there. You may have to gently pry it away from the timing cover.

    W80: keeping it mixed

I've noticed the injectors tend to coke up from running cold. So, I only run the WMO blend when the engine is fully warmed up. I like to use it for long highway trips. But even then the injectors tend to coke up. :( I think it is because the engine runs so damn cool. I even have a 203*...

I heat mine to drive off the water. You would be surprised how much water the oil holds even after settling out.

    W80: keeping it mixed

The direct drive centrifuges are pretty nice. I wouldn't mind having one. :) Holy grail of 'fuges... I don't know. Compare to: http://pabiodieselsupply.com/shop/ultimate-force-centrifuge-c-170.html Specifically, Ultimate Force Pressurized System w/ Heater Is it worth it? It depends on how...

What's the purpose of the timing advance when on high idle?

The cold advance works by changing the internal IP case pressure. The internal advance piston works on the difference between the vane pump pressure and the case pressure. Case pressure is held at ~ 7 psi IIRC, by the a spring loaded glass bead in the little black fitting between the top IP...

    Pondering Glow plug issues.

That's why I carry a can of ether in the truck. Having the push button also gives me the option to use ether without having to disconnect anything. Also, with the system I have: one 30 amp relay/plug I now have the ability to monitor the relative temp of each cylinder. This allows me to tell...

    cold starting tips

In that case, you are forgiven. Just trying to raise the grammar bar on the OB site.:rolleyes: You must be getting mellow. I fully expected a flipa. LOL Grammar: The difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit. LOL To the OP, sorry for the hijack.

    Help, engine harness differences

If the harness was cut off near the fuse box, you'll probably be ok repinning it. The engine mounts are close, but not close enough. :) Here you go. Oilburners would not let me upload a file with a .xlsx extension. I tried exporting it as a PDF, but that sucked. You can download it from...

    Help, engine harness differences

It depends what you want to do. :) If you are keeping the '95 engine stock, I would recommend just getting a wiring harness for the OBS truck. There are enough differences between the OBS and the SD harnesses to make it a real PITA. I don't know what you are missing on your harness, so it...

    Help, engine harness differences

The '01 harness is about a foot shorter than the older harness. On the older OBS trucks the big electrical connector is beside the fuse box on the driver's side. On the SD trucks, the connector is just above the driver's side valve cover.

Finally solved a few issues but new ones have poped up

I borrowed this from another site: at start up the ICP 400 to 700 psi. At idle the ICP 400 to700 psi and the IPR duty cycle is 9 to 14% At cruise ICP is 700 to 1200 psi and IPR is 15 to 20% With normal acceleration ICP is 1200 to 2000 psi and IPR is 20 to 30% Under WOT the ICP can go up...

    91' F250 7.3 I.D.I. coughing.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? A restricted fuel filter can lower the fuel pressure at the IP which will retard the timing. Gray smoke is an indication of retarded timing. The coughing when the high idle kicks out is not a glow plug or regulator issue. The temp of the...
