    I Bought A '91 E-350 Collins MiniBus

Looks like I get to measure battery boxes and get batteries tomorrow! The van is a 'singley' not a 'dually' so it looks like LT265/75R16 tires are in order. A/C is this magical thing that makes life in Houston tolerable! Yeah, I gave him $100 on a $300 to bill, NOT happy that I have to replace...

    I Bought A '91 E-350 Collins MiniBus

I bought this yesterday: It's mostly complete, but not currently operable. Seating for 18 passengers, 7.3 IDI/E4OD/3.54-geared Dana 61, pretty solid shape. I have questions! 1. What size battery is this supposed to have? Online sources have Group 24, 24F, 27, 65, and other sizes listed...

Turbo 6.9idi in a 1949 Ford F1: Change My Mind.

Ford 300 I6 should fit, use an 'FE' crossmember mount. The '42-'52 frame is a little narrower than the '53-'64, so keep that in mind. A 9" rear from a '67-'72 F100 should drop in... no to Crown Vic stuff unless you want a small-block...

What transmission are you going to use? A T-5 would bolt in with an adapter plate, and there's pedal kits to convert to the compatible Mustang-style cable... Eli

    Rebuild, Power Stroke or Cummins?

This: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6V53T-Turbo-with-Allison-transmission-/143495886883 In all seriousness, I'd get another IDI(T) or a 6BT. Anything else is a lot more work, and a lot more weight. Eli

    Hub centric or lug centric?

    If it's 8X6.5" it's lug-centric, or more properly lug-and-hub-centric. The metric ('99+) trucks are hub-centric. Eli

New here, 94 E350 7.3 IDI school bus. Hoping to swap axles for increased MPG's

Forget replacing the rear - it's a hassle - and install a free-flowing exhaust and fix the fuel leaks! Eli

It's a cargo van, not a passenger van - and the 6.0 is rather problematic. Eli

    Under dash air conditioner - 89 F350

There was - WAS - a company out of Ft Worth that made retrofit kits, but they went out of business several years ago. As mentioned, your best bet is a factory 'kit' removed from a parts truck. Eli

    Swapping diffs

    I put a 3.55 geared rear from a mid-'90s F-250 gasser under my '91 F-350 7.3, had to get a 1330/1350 cross U-joint to connect it all. Evidently Ford used 3 different U-joint sizes with the Sterling rear: the Spicer 1330, Spicer 1350, and a so-called 'Ford 1330' that's really a 'Detroit'...

    4-53T Detroit conversation.

That's a LOT of motor for that chassis, in the neighborhood of 1300 pounds - plus transmission! GM made a lot of medium trucks in that era with 4-53Ts, scrapping one out is probably your easiest plan. Eli

WTS 1991 F-350 Crew Cab SRW 7.3 ZF-5 $3500 OBRO [SW Houston, TX]

There's a small electric winch in the bed, and the spare mounts under - I hadn't re-installed it since switching rear ends. Eli

WTS 1991 F-350 Crew Cab SRW 7.3 ZF-5 $3500 OBRO [SW Houston, TX]

This turned out to be more of a project than I can deal with right now. The truck starts, runs, and drives, and is pretty solid, with very little rust, strong motor and good transmission. The original 4L10 rear failed, so I installed a 3.55 - original 4.10 is included if you want it but needs...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Well, it started fairly easily after close to a month of sitting, and drives. Unfortunately, there's still wheel bearing noise - I'm hoping from the front end. Anybody want to buy a solid, strong running '91 F-350 CC SRW? I don't have the time or money to put into it. Eli

So what did you do with your truck today?

I finally finished the rear end swap last night - took nearly a month between dealing with work, family, a Tropical Storm, and ordering parts - I had to get a 1330/1350 cross u-joint to keep the yoke on the '95 F-250 rear end from a gasser. Now, to see if it'll start, and drive it some! Eli

    20-50w oil

Most 20W-50 is 'S' rated oil, you need a 'C' rated oil for a Diesel - preferably a modern 'C' rated oil ending in -4 for 4-stroke (old Detroits and such need a -2 oil). Eli

So what did you do with your truck today?

Trying to finish this unwanted project. Somebody in the past bent the rear driveshaft - it's visibly bowed, with a big dent, and I still need to find a replacement - to the point that it tore the pinion bearing and seal up on the Sterling rear end. This allowed the fluid level to get low...

    Luk SMF vibration over 2500

I'm not sure there's a different imbalance spec so much as just revisions in part specifications, the '87 6.9 used a lot of '7.3' parts. Does anybody have the actual imbalance figures? Eli

    Luk SMF vibration over 2500

You sure about that? I know the IDIT and 'regular' IDI have different imbalances, but I've never heard of a difference between a 6.9 and 7.3 Eli
