    Fuel leak at fuel filter

Nostrokes I'm not sure what filter is on there now. It is the same type filter you describe. It is white with grey lettering if I remember, I'm on the road right now. Here is a picture of the bottom. I took it to show the fuel leaking onto the valve cover, not the filter itself.

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

I saw that one. The problem is I did not see that it was oil resistant

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

I was going to use the black Permatex that says its maximum oil resistance? Is that sufficient?

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

My truck is a 5 speed, so it isn't an issue. The previous owner did the plug fix, I would rather just replace the o-ring

Where is the tank selector valve? I have an '89 dually and both tanks read past full. Every now and then the fuel gauge works correctly. I'm thinking maybe checking the selector valve and cleaning it up may fix the problem.

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

Icanfixall All return line caps are the same. The PO used different clamps on the lines, but the caps are all the same style. I appreciate the help with the leaking plug. I definitely found it to be leaking. I was planning on changing the fuel filter, so I decided to take the old filter off...

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

I don't think they mixed the return line sizes, but I'll check. As far as the leak, are you saying that the plug itself is leaking? If so, what should I use to "seal" it? I'm assuming it's leaking past the threads. I should be able to remove the plug, put some type of sealant on the threads...

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

The installed filter has the water in fuel wire installed on somethin. I'm assuming it is on a removable sensor that has to be installed in the new filter. The new filter has a plug. I'm assuming that the plug (bolt) is to be removed and the sensor placed in that location. The new filter came...

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

Here is a pic of the filter. I believe the PO removed the fuel heater and plugged the hole. I'm hoping the new filter fixes the leak but thinking it might not if the filter gets tight without the seal on the mating surface. Thside of the filter is wet, so I'm hoping the seal on the filter...

A previous member made it sound like the unplugged fuel heater could be the culprit... Or am I missing something?

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

Icanfixall The top wire has never been plugged in since I've had the truck. That was going to be my next question, pertaining to that wire. Could you find a picture of the black thing you're talking about?

    Fuel leak at fuel filter

Hey guys, I'm trying to eliminate my fuel leaks and I have to admit I'm a complete newbie. I have a filter that looks like the one pictured only it's a Wix filter. I'm getting fuel running down the filter and I want to replace it but I have a wire at the bottom of the filter and don't know how...

Are there sending units and shower heads new? What do you need for them? Also, anyone know the rubber gasket and plastic fitting for the vent (side tank)

    1989 F-350 idi stalls out

Thanks again.... looks like a complete fuel tank restoration is in my near future. Rear tank takes forever to fill and the fuel guage on the dash doesn't work for either tank. I'm thinking I'll just buy all new everything and take the bed off and replace it. You have any suggestions?
