    Battery jumper packs?

Yes you can hook 2 booster packs to them, 1 on each battery. I run a towing service and I do many boosts, I use a NOCO GB150 or GBX155 and they have started many idi's and powerstrokes for me, on their own. Might not do it if both batteries are stone dead and it's cold, but they will...

Holley Red are garbage, what else quickly?

The Carter 4070's have also taken a huge turn for the worst. I was running exclusively Carters on various things up until about 3 years ago, the newer ones would only last me maybe 500hrs or less. Installed correctly. The old ones, seemed to run indefinitely. I have 6 Carter 4070's on the...

    Chuff, Chuff, Chuff

Could it have blown a head gasket between two cylinders? Seen this a few times, causing a no compression and chuff sound. Otherwise lots of lifter and valve guide issues causing the chuff, but usually not resulting in 0 compression

Another lift pump lets me down.

I run the 13's. I run them on the frame rail usually but have run them in the engine compartment. I do see fuel pressures drop under WOT like any other pump and they usually hover around 4-6 under normal operating conditions. I have never had a fuel starvation problem. However, I run stock...

Another lift pump lets me down.

The FRB series is all I use now on idi's and other applications that require low psi lift. I ran Carter 4070's on various applications for years, THEN they went to hell. I had several fail within a couple hundred hours; these were ones built after aprox 2015. The old ones that are still in...

Another lift pump lets me down.

They are rated for 18,000hrs. They are not loud, but you can hear them click away with the engine off

    New Mechanical Lift Pump...

Yup I have given up on the mech pump years ago now. I, like many of us; am a fan of all mechanical but the quality and lack of other manufacture options for the mech lift pumps forced to me electric. Which I have now figured out a system that works great for me and is reliable. That being...

    Clock Spring

Yup. Common problem. BUT....it solved your hvac stuck on defrost? That's usually a vacuum issue. Interesting

    Where's everyone at?

The PSD section of Oilburners seems to have died off these days. Where has everyone gone to for PSD forums?

Is the mechanical fuel pump on the 6.9 capable of sucking through a dual filter setup?

I don't have a source for that, but it is the consensus on them. Some manufactures of filters who have detailed installation instructions, also state that the primary/water separator filter must be installed on the suction side

    Jesus Freak's WMO IP thread

excess carbon build up on the plugs themselves, can reduce there life. They don't seem to last as long with carbon built up on them. There always will be a bit more carbon when running alternative fuels, so that is the correlation. The life span difference can be mute it some cases, and in...

    Oil additive for injector lubrication?

Yup just run an oil that is spec'd correctly for Ford Powerstroke, which isn't difficult to find; and keep it changed within recommended change intervals. I'd actually strongly suggest staying away from adding any oil additive. These things are just too fussy to screw around with potentially a...

Another lift pump lets me down.

Yup it's a joke. Many brands of electric have gone the same route. Most notably the Carter 4070. I have quite a bit of posting on the subject. As time goes on, I feel it's important to continue to share failure results of different brands/styles of pumps...as it can save others from being...

Another lift pump lets me down.

I have switched to E pumps about a decade ago, have gone thru several models and have come to a final setup which seems to work, I won't get into it here. If anyone out there has an inclination to make a worthy custom part; I think a custom/quality/upgraded etc mech fuel lift pump would be...

    6.9 7.3 oil consumption?

The idi design in general is also better at burning a fuel that was injected from a worn/poor spray pattern injector. It takes a pretty bad spray pattern to create a hazy idle in an idi, compared to say a powerstroke which will smoke and stink to high heaven even with slightly worn injectors...

    Orings on power steering

Ya just leave it alone if its not leaking, in my opinion. What I am starting to see more and more of, is the steering shaft input seal leaking on the steering box.

    6.9 7.3 oil consumption?

Ya I have torn a couple down. I always check/replace/clean/re-route the CDR first. I have never actually remedied a consumption issues with any CDR valve work. Usually see a broken ring or a few, melted ring lands from excessive EGT. The rings probably break from excess starting fluid use...
