Pull VCs,fire it up.with aflashlight look around the base of the injectors for oil "bubbling up".dont confuse oil coming from the squirters above the hold down clamps.
If you want to take a little roadtrip to MA.im pulling a low mileage ford reman out of my psd.the tranny is fine.it was an idi tranny.i swapped solenoid packs and converter.
Im pulling it cuz the converter is bad.im done with dealing with the automatic issues and going 5 speed
Thats not adefinitive test for the injector rings. Will only tell you if thesecond oring is leaking.need to pull valve covers to see if the upper rings are leaking under the hold down clamps.
Put more fuel in the tank. See if your fix isn't low enough in the tank.that broken up rubber thing usually doesn't cause an issue till you're down to 1/4 tank.
What size hose and Tfitting did you use?needs atleast 3/8 .i fix them with 3/8 steel line and a compression fitting.keep it about...
Get a fuel pressure gauge on it for sure. Does happenhot or cold? No CEL ?
I've had a lot of issues with the airtex pumps the last few years, especially the electrics.
Doing a 5 speed swap on my truck finally. Got a LUK solid flywheel and clutch. How much power can it take?
On my highest setting I'm around 370 hp.don't know my torque.
Being done to my 95 psd.don't need psd info
The tranny I'm using came out of an f450. I remember when I did my idi I used a tranny from a pickup in my 450,I lost like 10mph on the highway. When that tranny blew I replaced it with the proper f450 tranny and regained my highway speeds...
According to the good tranny builders the radiator cooler, 5/16 lines and tranny fittings are too restrictive.
TThey recommend 4r100 line fittings, 3/8line and a good heavy duty cooler with 3/8 line connection.
That's what I'd try. Most performance rebuilders recommend bypassing the radiator cooler. Jasper wouldn't honor the warranty on my monsterbox if the radiator cooler was stillused
You might not have a tranny problem. You might have a tranny cooler problem that the new stat made show up.
Any auxiliarycoolers? If not ddefinitely put a good one in it
Power steering pump is the same for hydro /non hydro .if you got the exhaust donuts from Ford or international ,take them back .get exhaust donuts for a small block chevy .they seal tighter and never have to replace them again
Is there a way to upload pics from my phone?or a feature that can be added to the site ?my laptop died and i see no reason to replace it when my phone does everything i need a puter for.
What do you mean by running rough, couldn't get it out of the garage? Is it skipping, dead cylinder rough? Idles fine but no balls sounds like exhaust is clogged?
my 94 450 had a ford reman in it when i bought it.had about 10,000 miles on it.i put another 130,000 miles of pure abuse on it before it let go.it just suddenly died one night.got done towing 10 demo cars, drove 30 miles home.pulled into a store, waited for a parking spot, truck wouldnt move...
or a dana 70?if you wanna stick with 8 lugs.ive got a dana 70hd in my dually with a powerlocker in it.can get pretty much any gear ratio you want for it unlike the 80.
if youre gonna pull on the track with it i wouldnt recomend the powerlocker.ive blown 3 sets of spiders out of it.cookoo
Only reason you need the pcm is the speedometer depending on the year of your truck (cable driven or electronic speedo.reverse lights and neutral safety are simple to take care of.try to make sure you get the reverse light connector with the tranny, if you dont get it I believe the windshield...
look into dumping your split shot injectors for singles and programming to run them.iirc this was a good setup for towing.
If you want some good reading and a ton of psd info go check out our sister site, www.superdutydiesel.com .
I dealt exclusively with beans diesel performance.when I was dealing with them they had the best customer service, didn't try selling me anything I didn't need.
No matter who you talk to, they're gonna want to sell thier products.write down what they recommend and check what others have to...
