    7" flip out radio

I recall one of the NW guys switching the heater controls and stereo. Brandonmag maybe? If you're like me and fiddle with the stereo all the time; this would be the way to go... Found it http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?t=45354

    BIG DYNO DAYS #'s

Exactly. The huge numbers I listed above are for engines that are producing upwards of 3000hp (top alcohol) and 8000hp (top fuel). Another thing to remember; looser clearances frees up the drag on the rotating assemble which = free power, but not that much. And it makes the bearings wear out...

    BIG DYNO DAYS #'s

The crank and the bearings don't actually touch; they have pressurized oil between them. If they do touch, it spins the bearing. The more power is made, the more of a cushion of oil is needed. That's why on a top alcohol or top fuel motor they run upwards of .006" - to .010" of bearing clearance...

IDI in Half Ton: MPG & Suspension

I used to have a 82 F150 stepside that had numerous engines; from a 300-6 to a 351W to a 514" big block that made more torque than just about any IDI could. And I drove it HARD (I was a teenager at the time). Only drivetrain parts I blew up was trashing the bearings in the 9" rear end. I think...

    4x4 question

On the 89 I pirated my drive train from, you had to push the shifter handle to the left to go past 4H. When I installed the linkage, I ground a chunk of steel off of the linkage so now it just goes straight back.

is Rough country good or bad????

Hit the nail right on the head. I did the ultimate low buck band aid; I cut the ends off of a pair of TTB leafs that I had lying around and wedged them under the existing leafs in my truck. Raised it back up to stock height. Rode like crap before this because it was pretty much riding on the...

Fuel tank selector not working anymore

I've used my fuel transferring capabilities only a couple times. Once when I drained one of the tanks to remove it, and once when the high school kid at the gas station overfilled my tank to the point that it was dumping out of the vent tube. It's one of those nice to have just in case kinda things.

Fuel tank selector not working anymore

That the one made by Parker? I was thinking about using one of those when I switched over to the manual valves, but I heard they have a higher failure rate - something to the effect of them have enough resistance that they brake the handles off? But my main reason for running 2 separate valves...

Good Deal! Maybe too good to be true??

ZF5's usually go for about $500 around here, and a running IDI is also worth about $500. Well worth the asking price.

Traded my 92 for an 84

I think it will depend on whether or not the truck(s) has factory installed AC. The AC equipped trucks use a tall/narrow radiator, and the non AC use a short/wide radiator. It's really easy to tell by looking at them. The tall one sticks up clear past the top of the core support, the short one...

Traded my 92 for an 84

My truck originally had a 460, C6, Dana 60 rear. I bought a 89 F250 with a 7.3, ZF5, Sterling 10.25 and ended up swapping the entire drive train over except for the transfer case. Front dana 50 will bolt right in, and it's a good time to do polyurethane spring bushings and pivot bushings. Rear...

    a little educational video

As a guy that used to bore / hone lots of blocks in conjunction with the previously mentioned BHJ deck plates, I can attest to the cylinders walls being wonky once the heads are torqued down. And it happens virtually the same amount using either stock bolts or studs; there's hardly any...

My WTF moment of the day...

Mine came from the factory with a Dana 60 with the left handed lug nuts on the rear wheel only.

New problem ! Head gasket ? WTF !

What I've seen done before; drain the oil, then pour a couple gallons of diesel through the engine, refill with oil, and run it.

    F-Superduty Hydro Boost Parts

My cruise control hasn't worked since my truck was a gasser. When I swapped to diesel, I had an entire 89 F250 donor truck. So I have an 89 ZF5, 89 manual tilt steering column, and a pedal assembly out of a 86 F150. The hydroboost parts were taken from a 1990 F-Superduty. To disengage the...

    F-Superduty Hydro Boost Parts

Got the hydroboost all installed yesterday. A few tidbits of info I learned; Laying the two brake pedals next to each other on the floor and taking accurate measurements confirms the 3/4" difference in pin height. The plastic bracket that hooks to the brake arm to actuate the vacuum...

    1986 f350 4x4 cc diesel So Cal

Mine has the same identity crisis. Guys like us that stare these old trucks all the time will pick them out, but nobody else will notice. Previous owner of my truck owned it for 10 years and never realized the wheel openings were different until I pointed it out to him. Around these parts, the...

    Bleeding the clutch slave cylinder

I cussed at mine for about a full day. Mine has the bleeder valve as well, but the only way I gained anything was to just pump the clutch pedal like a wild man. I could barely get mine to the point where the clutch pedal didn't just stay on the floor when you pushed it in. What I finally ended...

    need pollak fsv part number

When I fuel up my Harley, they always just hand me the nozzle. When I fill the front tank on my truck, I usually end up doing it because it won't even go to the first detent on the handle. But yes, it's technically illegal to pump your own fuel in Oregon.

    Need crew cab info

I went from a ECLB, to a CCSB, to my current CCLB; they ALL sucked in parking lots. But in a CCLB, you're guaranteed to get more exercise, because there's no way you're going to fit in a single parking spot without hanging out somewhere. I regularly haul the wife plus 4 kids, which just doesn't...

    Superduty Pedals

I wasn't even in the market for a hydroboost conversion, but I saw a new bricknose F-Superduty show up at my local yard so I pirated all of the parts I needed. FWIW, the 3/4" difference in the pin location I measured is the difference between the superduty brake pedal I took out of the...

    need pollak fsv part number

I've transferred fuel twice now. Once to empty the rear tank before I pulled it, and once when my front tank got so over filled the diesel started puking out the vent line (no self serve at the fuel stations here in Oregon). Re doing the tank vents so they T together before they vent out to the...

    Superduty Pedals

The pin on the F-Superduty pedal is about 3/4" higher than on a standard truck. I just scored a pedal out of a local wrecking yard; it only took about 15 minutes to have the whole pedal assembly out. If you could manage to slide the clutch pedal out to the left, I guess it might be possible, but...
