Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

I've now clobbered a few tacos and several beer contemplating the evolution of the problem...I'll bet with you. I have to make a run though Abilene and Wichita Falls, when I get back I'm thinking of the manual FSV conversion and the addition of the independent glass filters @ FSV. I really...

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

It seems to have liked the filter. 36 mile test drive + over 30 idle and no issues. I should have just changed it in the first place ... I've never had a plugged filter treat me like that; in the past it's been die and no go... Not this crazy "set for a while then act normal" BS.

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

I like the filters at FSV. Thank you for the pic. Filter replacement to be done shortly ... will post back with results.

    Cruise speed rattle

A loose inspection cover has made me think that my truck was COMING APART! I seriously expected to be looking a rod hanging out of the block by the time I got shut down.

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

It acts like it's out of fuel. The PO had the filter replaced (Motorcraft) about 6k miles ago Maybe just go ahead and change it? I didn't want to introduce another variable to the problem ... If you think it could be the filter I'll change it now. Thank you for your help.

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

Update: Just got stuck again ... same symptoms. I let it sit for about 1.5 hrs ... started and got me home. Heat soak? Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Cleaning a CDR

For what it's worth, I've always used: 50 / 50 Simple Green and water...rinse until clean Rinse with clean water Let it dry (I've used a hair dryer) Spray inside with Balistol and "swish" around / drain I'm not necessarily endorsing this method but it has worked for me.

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

Closing comments: The truck ran great out of the Jerry Can. I let some fuel run out of the supply line before I reconnected the pump. Gave the FSV a "love tap" or two. Started the truck ... been running right since.?? Learned this: The caps, that come on reman / rebuilt injectors, work great...

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

Thank you, I replaced it when I put the new pump in ... it was in bad shape. I hate that corkscrew / hog tail hose!

Thank you for your input too. The front tank reads full. I Agree! I have 0 Ford senders that tell the truth!

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

I Appreciate You Bio-Bradley, I don't hear the valve operate from the cab ... it's a CC + I shoot left handed = don't hear so well out of my left ear. However, when I manipulate the FSV switch, the sender for each tank reads. The truck is new to me with about 85,000 on the clock. The return...

Another FSV Question ... I know. I feel stupid for asking

The '93 IDIT, that I scored a couple of weeks ago, started "surging" at 1/8" tank yesterday (no big surprise). I switched to the front tank ... drove about 20 miles with no issue. 3hrs later, started the truck and drove about 7 miles before surging began again. The truck died and I couldn't...

Interesting find when rebuilding a pump this week

ImpactBatteries.com has Northstar batteries w/ "free" shipping. I had never heard of them before.

    OBS Glow Plug Light

10-4. I'm almost positive that at least one plug is spent (if the GPC is working) ... un-burnt fuel on start up. I'll order a new set ... no spare ZD9's on hand anyway.

    OBS Glow Plug Light

Yep ... I'm pretty sure mine (some) are heating too ... can't tell if they are cycling correctly. If the GPC is working as scheduled then I've got one, or more, failed plugs...I reckon.

    OBS Glow Plug Light

I meant bullnose. Thank you though. I figured that they were supposed to work the same way, but the GPC on OBS is different than bullnose ... so I wasn't sure.

    OBS Glow Plug Light

Hey Y'all, My '93 IDIT is my first OBS truck ... not familiar with the GPC differences yet. Is the "Wait to Start" light supposed to cycle (like the Bullnose trucks)? Mine isn't ... has symptoms of failed GP or GPC. Thank you, Kizer

What's a top dollar IDI worth?

I appreciate it, and I'd take you up on it, but I have a run to San Anton' and back Sunday.

    Opinions on oil

I didn't realize that anything was added, between the refinery and the fuel station. Thank you. Who (which entity) is the middle man in that process?

What's a top dollar IDI worth?

I'd been looking far and wide, for a few months. It ran great back to Denton but I only got about 11.5 MPG, running 8* MPH. Axle code: 45 I haven't looked it up yet. Thank you.

    Opinions on oil

On additives: I, personally, would recommend some brand of fuel additive/treatment. From what I've read, these fuel systems rely on the viscosity of the fuel for lubrication ... today's diesel is not very viscus. I use Lucas Fuel Treatment and their "oil stabilizer" ... works well in my...
