So what did you do with your truck today?

Finally got around to doing an oil change. It was 92 degrees out today and I'm glad I didn't have to be out there for any longer. Then I went to go fill up the tank and managed to spill fuel everywhere because the pump didn't click off. :idiot:

Summer is here - what to do about my A/C

I have no problem getting it charged with R12 or getting it retrofitted. Either way works for me. I definitely wouldn't try any of the other "solutions" out there. I guess my main problem is I am hesitant to take my truck to a shop and let people work on it.

Summer is here - what to do about my A/C

It's 100 degrees out today and this time of year does not make me want to drive my truck, in fact I haven't done so in 2 weeks. I am willing to spend the money to get my A/C fixed, but frankly, when I read the yelp reviews of shops in my area, it scares me out of wanting to do anything about it...

    Uh Oh!

I don't think you need to worry too much, it's not like you're just going to blow a head gasket all the sudden. My truck still has the stock head bolts, and I have the non-wastegated Banks turbo from the late 80's. My truck also doesn't even have a boost gauge installed. It might sound like a...

How Could This Fit Our Trucks

Just wondering, why would someone want to do that? It seems like a fan like that would be even more noisy than the normal fan.

2014 Las Vegas area IDI get-together.

As far as I know it just needs to be recharged. It's worked maybe a couple times since I've owned the truck before it gets too hot out, which to me indicates it just needs a recharge. I don't think it ever got converted over to R134a. Apparently there's a shop near me that will recharge R12...

2014 Las Vegas area IDI get-together.

I would like to participate, but among other things, it has to be on a weekend I am free. It also would be nice to get my A/C fixed before attempting to drive out to Vegas. Like you say, I think it's more a matter of getting everyone to be interested in it than anything else. It's also hard to...

    CA unladen weight fee

I know that I pay a $80 fee included in the almost $300 registration fee. I assume this weight is set based on something the manufacture sets that gets relayed when the vehicle is first registered. I actually have a slip of paper that lists among other things the dry weight of the truck. I think...

    banks turbo application interchange

Banks has the manuals for their turbo kits online, see the links I posted below. The manuals do a good job detailing the differences between parts needed for automatic/manual. I don't happen to know the specifics to your question, but the manuals should be a good place to start...

I wish I could, unfortunately I am busy that weekend.

thinking of making this event a "west coast" GTG.......

I would definitely be interested. It would be cool to actually get to meet people here in person. ;Sweet

    Smogging comedy

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with smog checks. I agree though, they are a complete joke. I don't know what it's supposed to be accomplishing really.

HELP! Need more miles, not more power.

I don't think that anyone's saying that they are 100% certain that it's your problem, its just that the products they sell are highly suspect and no one here would be surprised if that was indeed it. Just from reading the hall of shame and different posts, I know a number of people here have got...

HELP! Need more miles, not more power.

I third that. Even though thankfully I have never purchased injectors from them, I did make the mistake of purchasing a return line kit from them whose caps proceeded to leak fuel everywhere after I installed it. That being said I would not trust anything they tell you.

The Official "Show Us Your Ride" pictures of member's trucks thread.

Here's my truck, I should have posted a pic a long time ago, but I never got around to doing it.

    It finally happened..........

I've always been curious as to how many of our trucks have been used for work as opposed to being used for infrequent truck duties. A '86 truck such as mine driven 12k miles/year would have 336k on it if it had been subjected to "average" use it's whole life. Like I mentioned earlier in the...

    It finally happened..........

Yeah, makes sense. I basically have to force myself to drive it or it does't get driven. I did use it as a commuter for awhile when it was my only vehicle, but those days are long gone.

    It finally happened..........

I often wonder if I will ever see my odometer roll over at 100k. The PO of my truck was an older gentleman who used it to go on a trips pulling a 5th wheel. I think he went across the country once. When I got the truck it only had 64k original (verifiable) miles on it. As of right now, 3.5 years...

    2 Wix 33211 Filters

I have 2 Wix 33211 fuel filters that are brand new still in plastic shrink wrap. These were for the previous fuel water separator in my truck, but since I put a new one in, I have no use for these filters. I'm thinking $30 + shipping for the both of them (amazon.com list them at $26.00 each).

Don't Think About it. Just Buy It

I checked the link out yesterday and it was $15, today it's $30. Was it supposed to be on sale or something?

    Finally bought one!

Looks good. It's definitely a more cost effective alternative to the mag hytec ones that run $200 or more.

    Cheap ebay VRV

Not my ad. Looks someone is willing to take whatever they can get for this. I already have a NOS one I purchase recently, so I don't need one, but if the bids stay low it would sure be a good deal for someone...

    Towing

I think someone mentioned earlier that it's also depends on what kind of towing you're doing. A lot of it depends on if you're getting paid to do it or not. I know that in CA, towing over a certain weight requires a class A, but towing the same amount for say a 5th wheel RV, it would require a...

    Towing

As far as I know you won't get any fine, and it's not necessary illegal for being over the GCWR. Exceeding the GVWR or GAWR does matter though. Look at it this way, in the '86 Ford manual is shows something like 12k GCWR for 3.55 gears, 14k for 4.10 gears and then for the 460 gas engine, the...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Drove the truck to work today. It's not my daily driver so I will drive it to work maybe once or twice a month. Besides that I just drive it around town, so she needs a good workout every once in a while. ;Sweet
