    Getting transmission rebuilt, what else?

Build it to 1997 specs. Better pump(f5 code?), steel planetaries, transgo Tugger kit (I like the way mine shifts), 4r100 pan, and the updated center support. Use stock clutches in the packs, and i recommend a quality single disk torque converter. Triple disc for a ~180 hp engine? Can't see the...

any ideas for beefing up rear suspension?

Look into the super duty b-code swap. While you're at it, look into shackle angle modifications

c6 with gear vendors od or zf5?

Regear to 3.55 and use an np435/205. Parts are EVRRYWHERE, get the second? Deepest crawler gear of manual trans, and its a very tough, very short combo. Probably pick both up for $150. At least thats how much I paid. If you find a gv for the 205, slap it on! Now you have a 6 speed(no overdrive...

    So let's talk gears

Another problem I need to address. A BIG trans cooler with a fan for low-speed driving

    So let's talk gears

Wow! I needs to get my hands on the bw1356 adapter for my gear vendors! I found one with a 2wd c6 adapter.

    So let's talk gears

So the 4.10 ratio should he suffice for a turbocharged 6.9 putting around the freeway? I know its about the 3.55 ratio, just wondering about the need for extra rpm for by the increased wind resistance. Since it checks out by the heavy haulers, I will start piecing the parts list together!

    So let's talk gears

Planning on 37's or 38's next time around. I am using novak's gear calculator and it put me at 2032 rpm. Weird! Would 2032 rpm be "enough" to cruise down the freeway with this big brick? Egt wise, Don't want to lug it around much. Or downshift a lot to maimtain speed. The lift and tires will...

    So let's talk gears

When my Centurion makes it's way down to lovely San Diego, I have to address the early 10.25 pinion problem. Should make it down fine because it will be nice highway cruising. So here is the question; is 4.10 ratio gears and 37" tires going to be enough to move this 8000 lb boat around at...

    Stanadyne Lubricity Formula

That's a nice price! To answer your question though, that stuff is in the middle of the pack but much better than straight ulsd as per this writeup http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?33429-Fuel-Additives-Which-ones-are-best

    Diesel RPM limitation

I want a mog! The portal box idea is genius! You can spin a diesel to about 5000 rpm before you need to re-engineer the injection spray pattern. Sheid built a cummins that can spin to 6500? Rpm. So your question of getting the fuel lit off isn't a problem. I think hypermax is doing a dt466 high...

    '05 and up superduty axles

The f550 super 60 is a 35 spline outer bad ass axle. Nice bearing vs the 30 spline f250/f350 stuff. My question is, we're all your super duty unit hubs built on a wednesday? My dad's excursion has 200k on the clock and ate 4 already!

    '05 and up superduty axles

The newer Dana 60's are nice. The f450 and f550 have the super Dana 60. Pretty much a Dana 70 with a Dana 60 ring and pinion. It's a nice swap, don't get me wrong, but IMHO the coil spring gain isn't worth the hit in reliability. The unit Hubs aren't serviceable and like to go out at the...

reverse shackle front, what to do in the rear?

Remember that with a shackle flip you need to redesign the driveline. You are only moving one side of the spring down. Changes pinion angle and moves the axle forward. If you can source blocks from a bronco, or get a double cardan drive shaft, great! If not you're going to have some good...

reverse shackle front, what to do in the rear?

Are you sure you want that high of a kit? PMF fabrication makes an RSK that adds 2.25" Lift with v-code springs. I know a guy that did the sky RSK and the b-code springs from a super duty and an f350 block, sits nice and level and gives you a better shackle angle. Better angle=better ride...

    90* thermocouples?

Good morning to you all! (0600 on the west coast) I do have a question for you all and seemingly infinite knowledge of these engines/trucks. Anybody running the Banks kit and has a 90* thermocouple? Or are they all straight? My brother in Reno is doing some repairs and discovered the Pyro...

    Trasnfer cases

The pump mod fixed the only real flaw with the bw1356. The pump is a georotor design just like an automatic transmission. The anchor for said pump, is a tab that rides along the case that wears the case away! When the case is worn away and the tab can spin freely, no fluid gets pumped. The fix...

    Leaf Spring Help

Skyjacker 6" lift kit. Bolts in until you can get the nice springs to swap in. I want to do custom leafs on all 4 corners. Super duty length 4" race pack up front and a 66.5" long leaf in the back. No blocks, straight spring, nice and flexy

    Trasnfer cases

Output shafts* The input shafts are ALL the same, every ford up until the super duties. The bw1356 front yoke is all the same. 1330 yoke. The rear yoke, you need to cannibalize 2 cases if you wanna do like a pto/fixed yoke case. Like me! :D Ultimately get a pto case with two flanges...

My ole beast died last night

Is the shut off solenoid getting any power? All these posts about the pump "dying" is a very slow process compared to it just stopping fuel delivery.

    Leaf Spring Help

The super duty leafs are 3? Inches longer than our older springs. So you would have a stupid shackle angle and a really long shackle if you did the swap. Not very good riding at all. Check out PMF fabrication or SKY manufacturing. I think ORU makes one also.

    Sterling Rear Axle Swappers Guide

That im not sure of, I'm strictly a srw guy and the usual drw axles I mess with are dana 80's or 110's. as far as spring perches are concerned, they are the same distance apart, but the 10.5's mounts are half an inch higher. So expect a small lift. I am reading r&p setup in the sterlings are a...
