    Head bolt block thread

Yup, found it and read it. Thought there was mention of removing the couple tough ones by removing some of the AC/heater box. Can't see re-torque without knowing thread cleanliness and lube status but could be convinced of effectiveness. No head gasket problems so should probably leave it...

    Head bolt block thread

I thought mention elsewhere here of NOT using a real cutting tap, or at least just hand pressure on it, to prevent shaving any metal off block threads. Solvent and softer tap would seem ideal. Am still trying to find alternate bolts for one at a time replacement (head on).

Is that chase with non-cutting plug tap or finger torque with cutting tap or ..?:)

    Rotunda IDI Timing Tool Operation

No one has measured Rotunda timing output on #1/#4 hard line? Will let you know what I find.

    Battery cables

No, parallel batteries with load/charge connection of pos of one battery and negative of the other, with same gauge jumpers between them. Each battery then supplies half the load and gets half the charge current, unlike OEM in our Ford trucks (and most other duel parallel battery vehicle...

    Battery cables

Parallel batteries should not feed loads and charge from same battery, like OEM. This causes uneven loading and early failure of one, usually pass side. Probably source of labels "cranking battery" and "glow plug battery" seen elsewhere on this forum. TRUCK positive cable connected to pass...

    Rotunda IDI Timing Tool Operation

Does anyone have data on normal output of Rotunda timing transducer, on #1/#4 hardline? Such as typical voltage during injection pulse? Or harder yet, has anyone built up an amp for that xducer to trigger a timing light, besides Ferret, MAC, etc?

Winter is here! Thoughts on cold, hard starts?

Easy to see epump clearing air from filter and injector returns (on pass side if filter to injector #1 line still installed) but cranking needed to clear IP, right? NO low pressure path for fuel thru IP unless it is rotating so hard lines can not be purged without cranking. If IP can't pump...

    7.3 return line caps

Would seem like a somewhat better option would be very flexible, as in PTFE, tubing with some slack between injectors so no stress on joint or cap. Tubing would not have to be cut exactly to length and would withstand fuel/temp better.

    What gauges would you install?

Hall effect shunt does not bring high current cable into cab, so no safety problem, and can switch readout between multiple cables.

    What gauges would you install?

Why not save a gauge slot and plug in (to accessory power) one of the LED voltage displays. Red, yellow, green for increasing voltage (good) while shut down and yellow, green, red for increasing alternator voltage (bad) running? Easy, quick to see when not to attempt a start and better than...

    Injector lines barely spitting fuel

If you have a pressure brake bleeder why not try 10psi diesel fuel at LP OUTLET? Should show where leak is and wont harm anything. Regulated 5 psi air into tank fuel outlet with LP suction blocked would check rest of supply side (pressure on LP diaphragm possibly not good idea). Tire pump...

New kickers for the old 1986 F350 + build info

Not asking for recommendation, not looking to make it worse, saving money usually nice thing, and finally, still learning fine line between hijack and on topic post. Criticism accepted but did you loosen one at a time or all, please. Thanks. Will post new, I think, about alternate studs/bolts.

    Another Interesting IDIT Failure

What about some ignition off cranking with filter still removed to flush oil cooler? No chance of entering oil gallery and could see when flush "complete"? Then drain, flush with oil, install oil filled filter and oil, and proceed as normal.

New kickers for the old 1986 F350 + build info

So only 1 bolt loosened at a time and replaced or all loosened and then 1 at a time replaced. Would seem to make huge difference in releasing tension on gasket. No, I don't have any leaks, that I know about, but am considering replacing bolts with cheaper bolts/studs for insurance. Maybe with...

Is there a preffered engine oil for a 94 IDIT?

WALMART.COM now lists FL1995 for $22.53 or 6 for $100. What walmart do you get them for $10? NAPAonline does not list them now.
