    Holes on the bottom of the tank for fuel routing is a bad idea. There is a reason (several actually) why you won't find a tank made like that. Best idea is just fix what is broken. If you can't afford to fix it all now, think how much money you will save on fuel.

    Don't assume the rear brakes are causing a soft pedal. Air or a leak anywhere in the system can cause that. Not many people flush their brakes, so that might be a good place to start.

    Mine don't. Pedal is firm and consistent. You have a problem. Fix it and you will like the brakes. You can still have the same problem even on a disc setup, so don't blame the drums.

    I have never spent more than $400 for a rebuild, and that was including a compressor wheel. Actually, for not much more than that, I upgrade with a new larger compressor housing and wheel. I don't see how a rebuild could ever cost $1100.

    Bad cylinder somewhere. Usually the master, but I have seen calipers do this. Sometimes it is several of them. If you have the tools to block off lines and test the master and calipers, that will find the problem; otherwise it is just guess work till the offending part is replaced.

    I also have a large wrench to change out hitch balls. Add to that jumper cables. I keep my cars all well maintained, and rarely ever to any roadside repairs. So far less than once every 100k miles for all my vehicles. My wife has a newer vehicle, but all mine are 20+ years old.
