    And i would only replace if your coolant actually needs it... If you have gunk in there, strange colors, or can see crap on the fins that shouldnt be there, then yes... If not then thats not your issue. Are you running a coolant filter?

    Have you tried just running without a T-Stat? Just pull it out and put the upper radiator hose back one with a good seal and gasket as if the t-stat was in... That will tell you if the t-stat is bad or not before going out and buying one.

    I've gone through some decently deep water (about 3.5ft) in my truck with no issues. But that's also only barely higher than the top of my tires lol.

    Son to answer your question directly, it will only be powering simple hand tools occasionally for a few minutes and charging cordless tool batteries.

    It would only be used for the occasional power tool. Like I said, not planning on it being my main source of power for anything, much less a full job. Its more of a, "this repair job is gonna take 5 min of grinding so I don't feel like dragging a generator out so I'm just gonna plug into the truck."

    Very valid points. I never was planning to have the inverter itself under the hood. I got some noodeling to do. And ya boxes like this do exist... But I'm a welder. So I get to build it myself stronger, and how I want it! :D

    Also, pull off the air intake to the turbo, look at the wheels in there. If they look like they've been sand blasted, not a good thing. Should look clean and nicely finished.

    I would assume he wants to separate them so that when the truck is not running, you aren't draining your cranking battery. Running a crank battery dead or even very low is extremely harmful to the battery itself. That's what deep cycle batteries are made for.

    What about the IH dealership? Ifnit was me, I would probably but a new one or a refurb by a reputable company. Just cuz if it is a daily driver and used for work, you wanna have a it or that's gonna keep pumping strong and long in there.

    I've made deflector plates / funnels for it out of carboard. Just gotta play the "see with your fingers" game for a min while you hide behind the delctor .are of cardboard that's wedged into a bucket and undo the drains.

    Well even though you didn't get what you originally wanted... You essentially got a rebuildable engine for free! Look forward to seeing the progress! On a side note... Does anybody know of a step by step walkthrough on rebuilding either a 6.9 or 7.3??

    94 7.3 turbo IDI

    The 7.3, particularly the IDI, is a phenomenal motor. Many believe it to be the best diesel motor ever built (many on the forum!). Just watch for cavitation, a few other small things, take care of her maintenance, and she will live a long happy life.
