Didn't tow yet but took the truck for a drive up the mountain to do some shooting. Gears helped a lot. I can accelerate in 5th up hill! That's a big change. 94 idi turbo with 87 cab swap revival thread.
Yeah instructions look weird. I used the piece of tube provided. I merely cut the original tube and soldered in the provided extension. Then I took a piece of coat hanger and welded that to extend the float arm for fuel level. It's pretty simple overall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- morgankshaw

Gears are done! Mechanic thought the truck drives really well which is always nice to hear. Gonna try towing again next week. And for fun I'm doing the oil in fan clutch mid in case new one arrives too late. I'll post results Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- morgankshaw

Hey laserjock I know you ordered a new fan did you get it, did it work? I'm waiting in a new ford fan too but I might just try the oil trick in the meantime to see if it works and also in case the new one doesn't show up before my camping trip. Yeah you're probably right. So I calculated that 4.56 would bring me to stock ratio. But to account for the extra width and weight I'm going with 4.88. I read a few articles where obs 5.4 guys did the same thing with good results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- morgankshaw

Yeah that's why I put in a motorcraft thermostat and finally ordered a motorcraft clutch. New radiator new heater core new water pump new hoses have all been completed. Well boys it's off to the differential shop hopefully this fixes me up. I'll post back and let y'all know if I have any luck. Yeah I forgot your running a nice turbo not like my old school tiny 088 ats. You should be boosting closer to 12-15 I'd imagine. Let me know what leaks you find and how. Smoke test?? I want to reseal my hat and the o rings on the turbo too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- morgankshaw

Sounds like between towing and fan clutch we have a lot of the same issues! I'm hoping my new ford clutch is the solution as well. When your turbo is only boosting 5 psi do you have it floored? Mine only seems to make higher like 9-10 if it's floored. Otherwise it's usually 6-7 range. Sent...- morgankshaw

Yes good advice but all of that's been done and more. Except for the intercooler. And I still. We'd to check fir a few boost leaks but I'm sometimes hitting 10 psi which shouldn't be bad fur this turbo. It's one of those jobs I'd try to tackle but the proper tools are kinda expensive. I don't know maybe I should just bite the bullet and do it myself. But..... I put the stock one back on I thought about that couldn't see how to ad any. It did look as if it was leaking a tad. Hopefully new one works! As for the gears I'm hoping someone can chime in. So I'm thinking aside from the possible above turbo leaks which I'll try to check soon. I may make a cold air pickup or even an intercooler. I towed and overheated yesterday.
