This was yesterday, I couldn't resist taking a pic. It's been 3 or 4 years since I last had to tow it, new record LOL
The back story for this one is funny. So i'm in the middle of moving right now. The day before, I drove the truck around 220 miles, it did its job without a single complaint...
I have a low stall converter in my E4OD, but no shift kit supporting it. It definitely feels like it grabs and goes earlier in the rev range, and around town it feels peppier. These things make their peak torque at like 1400-1500rpm and that's where my converter grabs (OEM is something like 1800...
I brought home a 2012 Passat TDI yesterday. I just introduced it to the IDI, and I think the IDI wanted to establish its dominance LOL
Edit: I need the name of a German drink, I want to call these two Beer & Bourbon but I don't think beer is specific enough to Germany.
I appreciate the tip! Next time i'm poking around i'll have a look at the VSS, I know it's the original so maybe i'll just replace it for the fun of it. Gonna leave the RABS alone though, I don't want to poke that bear :D
My tach has been working normal today, but i'm keeping an eye on it. I'm...
Out of curiosity, how would those interfere with the tachometer? My speedometer works fine, and my RABS system is one of the only 3 in existence that seems to work, so I haven't messed with either of them.
Didn't do anything to it today besides drive at it and yell a few choice words at it. My tach sender started acting up, showing my idle was a flat 400rpm, not moving till 800-ish rpm, then when it'd get to 1200 it dropped down to zero, came back at 2k... never seen one spaz out like that before...
I'd say the DB Electric is the default go-to, and Power Master is the premium option. I've read tons of good about DB Electric starters and I'll take one of those any day over the parts store junk, but if money is no object and you want the best... Power Master 9050.
I put a Power Master...
The only "good" belts I've encountered in my travels thus far have been the green Gates belts. I've run regular Gates belts plenty of times and they all started cracking in under a year for me, though I've never had one fail on me. I HAVE killed several Masterpro belts, once they start showing...

Part # 42-1559
These are much better than the last set of clears I had before, they do a good job of spreading the light around without having too many dark splotches.
LMC Truck has a set of clear headlight housings that work really well, match them with some Silverstar Ultra's and relays and you'll have some very useable lights.
This isn't so much for IDI vs PSD, just old diesel MPG vs new diesel MPG.
My theory for why the newer diesels get roughly the same MPG as ours is the power they make. Yeah, they're also heavier and they have the emissions BS added to them, but I don't think that matters as much, especially when...
https://shop.broncograveyard.com/Borg-Warner-1356/products/937/ <--- rebuild kits, seals, etc from Bronco Graveyard. I don't know if they're the "best" quality, but it's one resource at least.
I don't know too many specifics regarding these transfer cases, but I do know that if you have a...
I've never messed with the exhaust on this thing, how hard is it to pull that Y-pipe and, more importantly, how hard is it to reinstall for a mechanically challenged derp like me? LOL
I was really, really hoping this wasn't gonna be a valve issue, that's a nightmare scenario to me. Just out of...
Sorry it took forever to get back to this, been busy and haven't had much time to worry about the truck. Still need to get the oil changed, 900 miles overdue and it's killing me...
Anyways, I tried pulling the air filter and housing off as per the suggestions. The smoke didn't go away, and the...
There's definitely something wrong with that PS pulley. It's supposed to just be one belt. It also looks to me like the pulley shaft isn't pressed all the way in to the pump. edit: On my desktop now and I can see it better, so I take that last part back. It's still the wrong pulley though, both...
I don't think so, it was only about 1qt low when I checked it before the trip, about 2700 miles on the oil change then. Now it's got 3800 on the oil so it's well overdue for a change. Right now the oil level is sitting just a hair below where it was before I left.
Alrighty, so cracking the injectors didn't reveal anything. Each one caused the engine RPM to noticeably drop and the smoke thickened up each time, though some injectors did create more smoke than others, none made the puffing smoke go away. I did the test with the truck in drive and the parking...
