That's my hood, my roof is even worse. The paint is clearly done, but I'm just wondering what my options are here. Is there any way I can stop the peeling where it is now and preserve what's left? I'm thinking about just rattlecanning it, but my only workplace is my driveway.
I'm just curious...
Here's my truck, '92 with 300k on it. I'm the second owner, the original owner is a longtime family friend who I've known since I was a kid. I wanted this truck since the first day I saw it as a kid; when the owner offered to sell it to me for a steal I had to jump on it. It's a pain keeping it...
I got the Spectra plastic / aluminum one from Autozone. I wanted to get a Champion radiator, but they're out of stock everywhere I looked. At least the Spectra one has a "limited" lifetime warranty and you can get a new one at any Autozone, instead of dealing with shipping radiators back and...
I finally got to drive my truck today! That last heater hose put up a good fight but it eventually came off, I put the new clamp so that it should be easier to get to next time around. So far so good, the Chinese Autozone radiator seems to be holding water without any leaks, let's see how long...
I'M NOT ALONE! Mine does that EXACT same thing, right at 1100 rpm; in gear, in park / neutral, doesn't matter, it always makes a buzz right at 1100 RPM and goes away at ~1200 RPM. All these years I thought it was just me going insane.
Does the transfer case shifter buzz constantly for everyone else too? Mine buzzes like an angry hive and drives me crazy, from what I've read it's really common and I think exclusive to the IDI trucks.
Today I replaced the heater hose T-fitting that I broke with a brass one from Home Depot, and now I have all but one heater hose replaced. The clamp for the hose going from the T to the passenger side head / block is in a terrible spot, and I can't get a socket on to loosen it. Ran out of...
I'm pretty sure there is a place in hell reserved for the engineer who designed the OBS headlight housings / blinkers / corners. He'll be sitting right alongside the engineer who designed our return line setup.
I installed my new radiator yesterday. Perfect fit, I was expecting to have to make some modifications but nope. It dropped right in. Gotta give the cheap Chinese Autozone junk some credit there.
Now all I have left to do is replace my heater hoses and the little T fitting that I broke, fill...
I just snagged the last one from that listing. I had no idea that these existed, I've been wanting to upgrade my overhead candle for ages but never got around to it. Thanks for the link ;Sweet
Violence it is! Nothing like a simple solution :D
My next project is flushing the block and heater core to try and get the stop-leak crap out. I didn't flush it when I changed my coolant last time and my fresh coolant turned murky pink-brown real quick, gonna try and avoid that this time.
This came out of my truck today:
Now I'm waiting for my new radiator to arrive, hopefully it'll be this week.
I can't believe how easy it was to remove. 4 shroud bolts, 4 radiator bolts, 3 hoses, DONE. I had a harder time finding a place that would dispose of my antifreeze than I did...
I would replace all 8 just so you know for sure what you have in there. Just cross your fingers and hope the tips stay on, if the PO used Autolites be sure to track him down and break his knees.
I haven't bought new springs yet, other stuff came up and demanded my wallets attention more than the truck. All it needed to stay roadworthy was tie rods, so for now I'm just living with the shot springs. I eventually want to put a D60 under my truck, so the springs can wait until then.
If Ford used the same springs in '85 that they did in '92, then the 2575# capacity ones are what you want. I was hunting for springs a few months back for the D50 in my '92 and I had the same problem you did with trying to find the right information, Google is virtually useless sometimes...
I had a set of the yellow Monroe Gas Magnums on my truck. The passenger side front shock self-destructed ~3k miles after installation, broken weld and zero shock absorption. I replaced the entire set just a few months ago with new Bilstein's (upside-down in the front, I gotta do something...
^ That is probably it, I've encountered almost the exact same thing the OP has and it was due to foamy diesel throwing off my numbers. Normally I fill up at Chevron, which pumps reasonably fast but always puts a half gallon on the ground due to the foam. I filled up once at a Valero station, it...
I appreciate the offer. If I had the space I would probably take you up on that, but we're trying to get rid of stuff from the house to get ready for a move soon. Taking up a quarter of the garage for a slow-moving project would probably cost me my cheap rent privileges LOL
I'm honestly not...
I ended up passing on the springs, other stuff came up that took priority over the might-as-well's. I got the tie rods replaced with new Moog ones, and that got rid of a LOT of the "I'm going to die" noises I was hearing. Before, the steering popped and creaked like mad when turning the wheel...
The relay mod is definitely worth it; besides making your lights brighter, the relays take the strain off the weak headlight switch. If a relay ever dies on you, it's not even a 5 minute job to switch things back to stock and get back on the road, no tools required. If your headlight switch...
I bought my IP and injectors from them a few months back. My pump is just a stock rebuild for an NA engine, not one of the fancy performance pumps (that aren't worth using if you're truck is NA like mine), but even so my truck has a lot more power than it did before. I'm quite happy with it, and...
