Well, I followed the DB2 tuning guide and found the 5/32" Allen extremely tough to turn. I was able to get (I think) 2 flats. It then became so hard to turn I was afraid that would damage something.
It definitely runs much better and it seems to be lighting the turbo faster. So while I still...
The CTS was listed locally for $250.
It is the #84130. It came with the cables and only the egt probe.
I spent $152 for the #98605 expander universal sensor input. The 12v kit #98615 was $25. The boost sensor #98607 was $111 + $5 shipping.
To be honest I thought that the boost sensor would...
It obviously does not have an obd port. Edge sells a 12v kit that just wires to a key on key off fuse. Their programming has an option for no obd.
I drilled and tapped the intake for the boost sensor and the driver's side exhaust manifold for the EGT. As you can see I also have an ambient air...
Plugged the wastegate. I am seeing a touch over 9 psi and the truck has a bit more pep.
I guess it's time to get out the timing tool and learn how to turn up the fuel a bit.
Well, gauges are in. I found a used CTS2 and ordered their 12v power cord. (They are usually power by the OBD2 port)
Only had time to take a 15 minute test drive. The factory turbo seems really slow to spool and I can't get over 5.2psig of boost!!
Most of time the truck is in NA mode.
Highest...
I'd prefer to bring the airflow up and free up the exhaust first. I'm going to need to spend a few bucks to get this truck where I want it to pull my trailer over the passes. Not looking for fast, but adequate...
I have an intercooler and a set of ARP head studs waiting to go in. Want to do a...
Ok. Fresh filters didn't really change anything.
I will see about bumping the timing when time allows.
Here is where it sits as delivered. All the rebuilder seals are intact on the pump.
I try to do granny mode! Really.
Problem is that to get out of my neighborhood I have to pull into a busy highway that traffic runs 50 mph on. That's when I black cloud the corner as I try to get into traffic....
1994 IDIT. 143k miles.5-speed 4x4, Bilsteins all around. Rear air bags. Gooseneck hitch.
Aftermarket wheels with 285/75R16 tires... I'm guessing it has 3.55 gears as I cruise about 1950rpm at 70 in 5th gear.
Ran 80+ with ease in Idaho where the speed limit is 80. Speed slowed to 76 over...
Yep. Jumped into the land of Blue and crazy minivans... But just barely.
Pulled the air filter and fuel filter. Thought I had a fuel filter, but it must fit the Van IDI.
I've been a member at RME and friend with Greg forever! I don't post much there.
I honestly have not had time to look at the timing. I also have a Kent Moore timing tool, but I haven't used it in years.
I'm in Utah County- they just re-instituted diesel emissions testing on '96 and newer...
Thanks guys.
I crawled under the truck yesterday looking for any previous installation ports for egt gauge. Found that this truck still has the flattened downpipe and 2.5" v-band clamp.
I'm going to order the 3" powerstroke downpipe and modify the turbo outlet to 3" and see if that helps get...
Ok. I definitely need to get some gauges in this thing. Not having them drives me nuts.
I'm thinking that after I get gauges I could try wiring the wastegate closed to see if it's hanging open and not allowing the proper spool up on the bottom end.
I can't have any smoke coming out. They...
I picked up a '94 IDIT last week. Bone stock. The altitude where I did my test drive was 157' asl. Could not make it smoke.
Drove it home 870 miles with a big grin on my face. Averaged 15.7 mpg, which isn't too bad considering the bed was loaded and the speed was 80-82mph for most of the trip...
Around here emissions is required on 1997 and newer. This seems to drive the older trucks up.
Test drove a super clean 1992 extended cab a few weeks ago that had a documented reman motor and rebuilt transmission. He was asking $5700. It ran surprisingly strong, but no turbo. If it had been a...
That helps! Thank you so much for doing that. You rock!
I've seen that spacer for sale and figured that there was more to it than a regular Ford flex plate. Now I kinda know what to look for. Hopefully I can find a complete setup from a salvage yard.
Again, big thanks. That is a great...
Thanks.
I know what the adapter looks like.
I don't know what the flywheel/flexplate or torque converter adapter look like. Is there a spacer in between the flywheel and converter plate??
Ideally I would like to find someone selling everything together right down to the stock bolts.
I'm not much on medium duty automatics. I've pulled apart and fixed a few handshakers, but never an automatic.
Does anyone here have pictures of what the flywheel/flexplate adapter for an IDI to auto looks like?
I can find the housing adapter on Ebay, but not really seeing anything for the...
