    Fuel pressure regulator

MBlaney, thanks for the explanation. With your Walbro, do you run it hot all the time since it knows when pressure is required? There's an interesting read about the Walbro's and Volkswagen TDI users, they've found that under WOT their pressure is dropping down to 1-2 psi on a 7 psi system...

    Fuel pressure regulator

OK, now I understand what you mean. I guess my next step is to research the reliability of regulators. If I have to run a fuel pressure gauge (to monitor the regulator), that's another added expense and another link in the system...

    Fuel pressure regulator

I think this is where I'm getting stuck, the only difference between what I'm planning and the Carrier pump is an extra regulator, not a bunch of custom stuff. Next week I'm planning the install, will take photos, and will give honest posts about whether it was more work than I thought, how...

Centrifuge... how clean is "clean enough"?

Mine comes out slightly less dark than when it went in, usually I can see through it if I pour it slowly enough and look through the flow. As for putting it in a jar and being able to see through it like diesel or gas, forget about it. Can you put yours in a jar and see through it?

    Fuel pressure regulator

I need to read up on the pulse pump, this thread is the first time I've heard of them and don't know how they differ from a regular pump. As for KISS, I already have a new PSD pump and spares since I use them on my other truck(s). With this setup, I'm out of pocket for a $20 Ebay regulator...

    Fuel pressure regulator

The PSD pump will run 65-70 psi at 35-45 gph and that is not with a restricted flow, that's just what it's rated at. Although mentioned above, I will not be pushing this volume or psi through the injector pump or injectors, only the 8 psi from the regulator. My setup will be tank>pump>regulator...

Centrifuge... how clean is "clean enough"?

I use to settle for 10-15 passes but now I've stepped it up to about 30 passes...with a 300 gallon tank, no bypass, and a 108 gph fuge, I consider every 3 hours as 1 full pass. My current batch has ran for 90 hours and I plan to spin it another 10 before I put it in the RV tank.

    Fuel pressure regulator

After looking up 3 port pollak valves and seeing that they run about $60, it'd be cheaper to pick up a 2nd pump, use the 2nd tank as a transfer tank, and pump over the fuel from Tank B to Tank A when I start to run low. Digital timers are less than I thought, Ebay has them for $6 with free...

    Fuel pressure regulator

I thought about that but since it'll be off-road every now and then, I don't want something to reach up, snag the equalizer line, and drain both of my tanks.

    Fuel pressure regulator

Right now I only have a single tank but am planning to add another, my application is an International MDT and not a pickup so I'd like at least a 100 gallon capacity (twin 50 gallon tanks). Once I add the 2nd tank, I was thinking a 3 port pollak valve would do the trick. The original return...

    Fuel pressure regulator

I've heard numbers from 5-10 as to what the stock pump needs, I checked my stock pump and it was putting out close to 6.5. What do you think'll happen if I run 8?

    Fuel pressure regulator

I don't understand what you mean when you say "set up a regulator... at the return flow outlet of the pump." Are you talking about a 3 port pump with a built in regulator?
  13. L

    Fuel pressure regulator

The return isn't complicated, there's a $20 regulator on Ebay (but don't know how they work) that would go between the SD pump and the filter and then you run a fuel line back to the tank. Shucks, that link I posted earlier is a $70 pump/regulator/gauge combo but it doesn't have any reviews...

    Fuel pressure regulator

That's excellent tech, thanks for this post! I wonder why the PSD pump won't prime the system, that's one of my primary reasons for switching to the electric pump in the first place. What's the difference between the Facet and the Walbro that makes one prime and not the other? I'm not...

    Fuel pressure regulator

I didn't read the entire thread but it appeared that he wasn't running a return line off the regulator. As long as the regulator is only pushing 8 psi into the stock system, and you have a way to get rid of the excess fuel without using the stock system, the engine could care less if your pump...

    Fuel pressure regulator

I'm not going to be using the stock idi return system, my return line will be coming off of the regulator. The layout will be fuel tank to fuel pump to regulator to fuel filter to lift pump, etc. The stock system will only see the psi that comes out of the regulator which will be 8 psi. I 100%...

    Fuel pressure regulator

I agree that KISS is the best, the pump I'm using is a stock spare from my 7.3PSD parts bin and it puts out 70 PSI. In keeping it simple, I'll run the same pump on all of my trucks and since I also run WMO blends, I know this pump will handle it with no problems. As for overpressuring the...

    2001 Excursion Voltage Drop

It's been awhile but I think the problem was a bad ground AND a battery draw from the radio. The battery draw was from one of the large cables, it looked great but had internal corrosion because it had a good amount of resistance. I replaced it and things were much better. I was still getting a...

    Fuel pressure regulator

Any chance you still have it? I'm about to switch over to an Electric fuel pump but it puts out about 70 psi...I definitely need a FPR. If not, I saw this combo on Ebay and it made me curious. What do y'all think? Anyone have experience...

To diesel or not to diesel...

This sounds like a need vs want scenario....do you need a truck or just want one? As food for thought, a 4x8 trailer can be had for $250, will haul about anything, and can be hooked to some sedans and most SUV's. This is coming from a guy who's planning to sell his Excursion and daily drive...

To diesel or not to diesel...

If it were mine, I'd fix the Camry, ride it for another 100,000 miles, and put the money saved into an investment opportunity. If you don't need a truck and like it more for the sound, just do what I do and test drive something new every now and then to get your "fix."

How'd you measure the reduction in heat and friction? Did it increaes the mpg on both trucks or just one? Is their a money back guarantee on it?

    2001 Excursion Voltage Drop

I think I'm going to backtrack here...I don't think it's normal that the batteries are dropping to 10V. Plus, there are two plugs that go into the module, one is black and one is green. When I disconnect the black plug, the voltage stays at a normal 12.6 v AND it responds much better to when I...

    2001 Excursion Voltage Drop

Well, after further review, I was looking at the intake heater relay and not the glow plug relay. Since my truck is an Excursion, it actually has a glow plug command module and not a relay, what that translates to is $$$$... That being said, more research has shown that the voltage drop is...

    2001 Excursion Voltage Drop

The batteries are about 6 months old but I haven't had them tested yet. I replaced the other batteries because of similar symptoms, I wish I would've tested it first.... My thought is still on the glow plugs as well, why would the voltage drop if I disconnected both the positive and negative...
