    wmo trips

Just checking back in to say that i made a mistake on the weight, at the end of the trip I hit the scales and I was just shy of 26K. This was with our older Odyssey in tow so without that, I was still over 20K. 7.5mpg wasn't too bad after I realized I was 4-5K lbs shy on my weight estimate...

    wmo trips

From my experience, I haven't had any problems at all and think it interacts with the engine just fine. And yes, it cut's the oil enough so that the viscosity is close to diesel and the resulting mix is good to go. Considering that most diesels will tolerate at least 5-10% gas mixed into the...

    wmo trips

Nah, not a dumb question at all. W85 is what folks are calling 85% waste oil and 15% regular unleaded gas (RUG). My mix is technically W83 since I run 17% RUG and depending on how the Excursion likes it, I might up it to W80.

New to this, first WMO batch

I think the hydraulic oil and gear oil may be the culprits for increased smoke, they're quite a bit thicker than everything else. For substantial amounts of hydraulic and gear oil, I'd definitely blend with at least 20% RUG and I'd probably run a mix of that and diesel in my tanks as well...

New to this, first WMO batch

My theory is that since oil burns cooler than diesel, the white smoke is a result of combustion temps being too low. Some have fixed it by either advancing the timing or running more RUG. Are you sure that you're using a full 15% RUG? I'd try 20% and see if that helps, if not then the timing...

New to this, first WMO batch

I run about 17% RUG and when my glow plugs are working, winter starts only take mildly longer than diesel starts. My theory is that since oil burns cooler than diesel, the engine is relying more on the compression of the fuel than it is the burning of it. That being said, I'm going to up my...

    Swap idi for gas motor

Just for FYI, I just finished a 10K mile camping trip with my truck, a converted 1989 Uhaul with a 7.3IDI running on WMO. I crossed the scales at 25,400 which included the truck and our van on a dolly. For all but the longest/steepest grades, I was running 66-68 mph all day long. Since you'll...

    wmo trips

Oh yeah, I had such a positive experience with W85 and my Uhaul that I'm going to pick up a 2001 Excursion and run it in that too. With diesel hovering at $4.20 and gas at $3.89 here in Buffalo, it won't take me long to sock away enough parts money to replace an engine if need be.

    wmo trips

Well I finished the trip with no issues and am now in Buffalo, NY. I scaled the truck at one of my last stops and was at 25,400 lbs. Judging by the spare stuff that I tossed/gave away during the trip, I'd be that I was nearing 27K at some points during the trip. MPG worked out to just under 7...

    pumping wmo

I went to collect oil from a fellow member and had the smart idea to get a new drill to run my oil pump. Unfortunately, the drill did not fit(3/8 vs 1/2) myoil pump shaft and I ended up leaving 100+ gallons behind. Since I've more or less mastered the SBC oil pump mod, I'm going to use that...

    Need help fast!

Depending on what he's using the truck for, he could purchase another truck from Uhaul fleet sales for right around $1300. This is for a running box truck with excellent maintenance records, probably new tires, and no major defects. IIRC, they are F350's with 14-17ft boxes. Just a thought...

What percentage of mix are you thinking about running? There are plenty of post 2004 trucks running fuels other than ULSD without major side effects.

Went ahead and replaced the rubber hose and it seemed like I could feel a difference at WOT on the highway. It didn't make the light go away but a new filter did. Thanks for the info on that sensor! I finally ran out of oil and have been running D2 the last 500 miles. My hard starts have...

water removal, goat vomit strainin, etc.

I'd get a clear barrel, pump it all in there, and let it settle off to the side. After a couple weeks, you'll have a clear separation line between the oil, puke, and water. Pump off the oil, get rid of the rest, and filter like normal.

    wmo trips

I'll have to look at mine very closely but I'm not sure if I have that sensor. I do have one coming off the back of the filter though. Either way I'll take a look shortly to be sure. Thanks for that, I really appreciate it. I also have a leak somewhere in my fuel system, it's drawing air in...

    wmo trips

If that's the case, how come the green light didn't come on when my first few filters failed after switching to WMO? Not saying you're wrong, just trying to figure out what's up. I'm going to change the fuel filter later today and then road test it, that'll be great if it takes care of the...

    wmo trips

The Everglades were great, we saw a ton of gators and went on a 15 mile bike ride where they are laying beside and on the trail. Now we're in North Port, FL but on the way here, my low fuel pressure light came on. I stopped and changed the lift pump but the dang thing came right back on. I'm...

Right now we're in Miami but we're heading out in a few hours for the FL west coast. We'll probably camp in the Everglades tonight, hopefully there's something fun for the kids there.

Can I use WMO on my 2007 3500 Dodge diesel

After looking into the CFR and other related sites, it also says you can run ULSD Kerosene and ULSD Biodiesel blends. I take that to mean that I can legally run WMO/WVO as long as the blend isn't made with anything other than ULSD. For the most part, I take the CFR to pertain to folks who want...

When we leave Tampa, we're headed to the Panhandle, then N'Awlins, then TX, AZ, UT, NV, CO....pretty much all things west. BUT, it's no problem to delay the western part and swing by your place for some nmuch needed crude. As for repaying the favor, I'm a gearhead and always ready to help...

Thanks again for the offer, i just looked up Ft. Collins and I think I'll definitely be stopping through to take some oil off your hands. It should be coming through in early Feb but I'll let you know at least a week in advance. I should be able to take at least 250-300 gallons, that'll fill up...
