Seeing those pictures with all that OPEN SPACE! makes me want to pack up and leave. Good luck in this new chapter of your life.

    I believe so.

    Wheel bearing grease type?

Thanks for the replies. I'll likely just run with Paragon 3000 up front and skip grease in the rear. I know when I last packed the font bearings 40k miles ago I used the most generic tub of wheel bearing grease at O'Reillys and no apparent issues.

    Wheel bearing grease type?

I soon plan to replace my wheel bearings front and rear but am a bit unsure which grease is best. For the Dana 60 up front some info suggests that an NLGI #2 is best while other info specs an NLGI#2 with a Moly additive--percent varies. I found plenty of folks talking about Moly being bad for...

    Oil in Radiator

Coolant filter unlikely to help unless it has a much better filter media than the NAPA 4070(I think) filters. When I r&r'd my oil cooler I used assembly lube to help ease on the o-rings and to slide the end caps on the tube, and even after a year+ of coolant circulating through the filter there...

    U-Joint Question

I believe it is a T-45 Torx. A socket T-45 can be harder to angle into place, at least it was on my truck, so I would recommend a t-handle Torx if you can find one. I borrowed a buddies' Snap-On t-handle and it worked nice and easy.

    Ran out of coolant

Since my coolant overflow tank leaks I've run the last couple years with a low coolant level. I just let the system spit out whatever it can't hold and haven't had a problem. Obviously not a pro move but it works.

"Engine Over Heat" light actually works, uh. . . oops?

FWIW I recently had my engine temp light come on but my mechanical temp gauge only read 225-230 which is warm but within spec, I think.

Dana 60 seals and u-joint replacement

Quick question here. What seals will I need to have on hand when disassembling a D60 to access the axle u-joints? I've never done this repair and I don't have a parts runner so I really need to have everything before I start. Also gonna' replace lower bearing on the knuckles and grease the...

    Particulate filter on IDI?

^^That exactly. I'm sure some folks will leave the city but I hope not too many as that would likely be a disaster for some rural areas. Low population density seems to often be a key component in regards to quality of life. More people trying to occupy the same space means more rules...

    Particulate filter on IDI?

In all fairness coal accounts for less than 25% of US energy production( https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3 ), but I get what you're saying. I would like to read the breakdown of how our trucks are cleaner than a Tesla--just curious.

Blue Top vs. Motocraft Remanufactured Steering Gear

When I did mine the price for Motorcraft was absurd so I went with a NAPA unit at $170ish--no problems and tight steering 10k later. Only time will tell about long term durability. I would have tried a Redhead but I needed the part "now" and didn't want to mess with a core return by mail.

Rear mirror adhesive that actually works?

I just used a clear 2 part epoxy from Ace and it has held for several years now--even bumped into it a few times.

    Odd electric issues 93 f250 n/a

Are your battery terminals and cables clean and intact? I used to have an occasional slow/no start due to corrosion on my cable ends and a quick cleaning would get her goin' again. Also tuned out I had a very poor connection on one of my grounds. Good luck and hope it's simple fixin'.

Tire blowout! new tire and rim recommendation for heavy load

FWIW I am running 255/85/16 Cooper St/Maxx--narrow 33" tire--and they hold a load well. I once weighed out at 12,100 and that's on a SRW truck. Admittedly they are wearing a bit faster than I would like, but no flats or problems.

    Quick Glow Plug Relay/Controller Question

I don't know the answer to your specific question but I did find some info that says voltage at glow plugs should be 9-10 volts. https://www.thedieselstop.com/threads/voltage-at-glow-plugs.155128/ If voltage is supposed to be ~9volts at GPs then I would assume the Z-bar metal thingy(?) should...

    Paternity Leave Projects

Personally I like the addition of a mechanical water temp gauge--inexpensive and easy to install. Although I don't have the same transmission as you(ZF here), I did try running non-synthetic fluid for a while and then switched to Amsoil synthetic and the difference was HUGE! In regards to...

    Lost brakes

Have you checked the brake fluid level in the master cylinder? The rear cylinders are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace, at least on a Sterling axle.

    New mirrors

I have done the swap you want to do. By all means try to hold out and get some factory mirrors from a junk yard. I tried a pair of aftermarket gooseneck style mirrors and they whistled like crazy, even at low speed--get the actual Ford mirrors. When you remove the small car-style mirrors...

DO NOT USE STP S3766 oil filters from AutoZone - warning!

Napa seems to charge too much for their filters compared to others. Locally the Napa Gold filter for the Powerstoke cost about $30+ whereas a local chain--Winchester Auto-- has the FL1995 for $20 out the door. I even find the jumbo Donaldson DBL 7405 online for less than $30 shipped. I don't...

Cold high idol and tach not functioning properly

On a Mercedes diesel site I came across the concept of "The Italian Tune-Up". Now this is a highly technical procedure that involves finding an area of minimal traffic and driving your vehicle as hard as possible to uhh, clean the pipes out so to speak. Hills are your friend in this goal!

    Steering box?

I don't know if your symptoms are those of a dying steering box but. . . I hear RedHead steering boxes are a nice upgrade but they are mail order and I don't know your time frame. I replaced my steering box about a year ago with a unit from NAPA at about $160ish--no problems so far. Pretty...
