    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

The compression saga continues but I think the bottom line is that whether it's the gauge, or whatever else the numbers are good. I ran 8 strokes again, made sure the IP was not plugged in and I did each cylinder twice in a row to check consistency. All cylinders started at about 150 and...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Thanks for sharing. I see this is for gassers and I'm assuming the process must be exactly the same. Where do I turn our engines over manually?

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I'm having a really hard time finding information on how to do a leak down test online. Can anyone point me in the right direction or advise on how to do so? Thanks

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

No modifications necessary. Bart - To answer the questions, the test was completed with all GP's out, battery charger on and 8 cycles. Sometimes I wouldn't stop it fast enough and a 9th would start to sneak on but more or less 8 strokes. I think the diesel being in the cylinder is the only...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Alright! I'm happy to report that the new HF tester works great. As luck will have it by at least the last cylinder I realized I had nudged the IP wire back on and the IP started working again. I could see the diesel spewing out when I performed the test. Now, my question is... what does...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

This makes total sense and I didn't think about it like that before. I returned that kit and bought the newer kit that should work well. BTW- if you tell HF that the gauge isn't working or just the kit isn't working in general you shouldn't need to pay the restocking fee. I've tried 16lb...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Sry, read 1qt when you said 1 oz. Will take everything you said into account and report back. I'll be out of town for 4 days starting tomorrow. I'll sprinkle work in here and there afterwards.

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I'm fairly inclined to just get a different tester. Harbor freight has a new edition that I think is legit and shouldn't require any fiddling with adapters. Either way, I do feel like I should try the test again although I'm going to do it cold this time because a couple of the GP's are a PITA...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I believe you’re correct. Smoke wasn’t really the correct term. You save me every time, any input on the compression numbers? Think the fact that there isn’t a check valve means I’ve gotten an inaccurate reading because of a leak somehow?

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Ok so I performed my compression test yesterday. The needle would peak around these numbers but the pressure wouldn't remain in the tester. I'm assuming that it just doesn't have a check valve but I was watching the gauge while someone turned the key. Does it matter if there isn't a check...

    Power window stuck down!

Installed the new motor today. Used a 1/4 drill bit to get the rivets out and then used nylon nuts with washers and hex end bolts. It was a little hard to get the wrench in to hold the bolts when I tightened the nuts. I had to move the window up or down to access some of the spots. Decided...

    Power window stuck down!

I think when I bought the truck the motor was crapping out because the inside window seal wasn't on. I went ahead and fixed the seal since they were all cracked anyways and of course an outcome of this was the window sticking. Little did I know PO probably pulled it out because the motor was...

    Power window stuck down!

Thank you, I will have a browse. I was under the impression that you needed to get one from a pick and pull.

    Power window stuck down!

Of course the window motor seems to have stopped working when the window is down instead of up... I’m pretty sure it’s not electrical because when I hit the switch I hear a click in the motor. I can’t muscle it up and prop it because of the gears. Any idea on how I can get it at least back up...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I know, my friend gave me a leak down test kit but I'm just not sure how to perform the test - I can research. He gave me a compression test kit but its for gas vehicles 300lbs max PSI haha! So now I need to order one online.

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I think there is some oil mixed into the leak as well. Oil drops never hit the ground underneath, it's not too bad. I'll just run the test anyway and see what happens. I'll also research how to do the leak-down correctly.

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

The head gasket leaks are both back corners same place either side. More or less where the head meets the block on outside back corner. Guess if anything either cylinder closest to the cab would be the issue?

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

Thanks for all of the input. I'm getting a compression tester from a friend today. I know the heads are leaking in both corners, will this affect a compression test? Sorry if thats a stupid question... In the meantime, I put blue devil in and it's actually helping a bit. I know people have...

    Valve Issues

Can I ask a side note? Did you pull the heads engine in or pull the whole engine? Need to replace my head gaskets and I'm trying to find more information either way and I cant really find any good videos. Maybe easier to start a PM with this...

    Clutch not working correctly

Slave Cylinder is now replaced with a metal one from O'reilly's which came out to $40 so I would say not too bad since it's not plastic. Very easy install clutch runs smooth now. Thanks for all of the guidance. For anyone reading this and attempting to change and/or bleed the system. I would...

    Clutch not working correctly

What would I need the compressor for? I did find the tech article that explains bleeding MC/SC https://www.oilburners.net/threads/tech-101-clutch-mc-slave-bleeding-procedure.62121/. I think its for 7.3 but I'm assuming the procedure is the same. I also found this video which is very helpful...
