    Let's talk radios

I haven't had good luck with Bluetooth through speakers. I just wear a blue parrot B450-xt. I can hold a conversation with both windows down at 70mph or in a boiler room, even ammonia compressor room.

OFFICIAL Red Head Steering Box Group Buy Thread

Steering boxes aren't spring loaded or anything, why would they return to center? I can remove a pitman arm from the draglink and it'll stay right where it is. Returning to center is entirely alignment related as far as I know. Caster I thought.

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

I wanted to add, today i was a customer doing some testing oil a boiler and they happen to have a large commercial truck fleet. I asked them about water pump failures and the radiator composition etc. They prefer brass radiator because they can get more cores closer together but somehow it...

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

What is its benefit though? They wouldn't just add it to destroy things. It must do something

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

If someone wants to send me anonymous samples of Evans, as well as two other glycol samples (so we know its truly independent). Label them in a way only you know what they are, add food coloring, or whatever you want to change the color I will test all 3 for SCAs, glycol content, pH, aklalinity...

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

I have no experience with it i can only go by the information they are providing on their website and SDS . Maybe someone from Evans can chime in about it

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

Their heavy duty coolant says "Free of Nitrites" yet has them listed on the SDS as less than 1% (typical control range is 2,000-2400ppm as sodium nitrite - 0.20%-0.024% of all other glycols). Their SDS Also lists the main ingredient as Ethlylene glycol at 80-85%. Maybe they add something that...

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

That's even more interesting as glycol usually expands 3 times more than water. I wonder what the stuff really is. I may have to buy it and test its expanson in a beaker when heating it vs other coolant.

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

Thats very interesting to me that it doesnt build pressure. I was merely going by their SDS which lists the main component as ethylene glycol at 66-70% followed by propylene. Which is not some special magical heat transfer fluid, its the same thing that all coolant is. It seems they are...

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

IDI's are 13psi. When you used an overflow tank you have no air in the system coolant expands, doesnt compress and your entire sytem is kept at 13psi as it vents excess from expansion to the overflow tank. When you run an expansion tank system like the powerstroke and all new cars/trucks you...

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

It's just propylene and ethylene glycol mixed together. Nothing special at all. The only difference between running straight glycol and this would be it contains half the corrosion inhibitors as 4,000ppm of sodium nitrite will start attacking solder, copper and aluminum. Maybe their coolant...

    Coolant .... the mystery continues

Does Evans coolant not expand when it warms up? No pressure in any cooling system is caused by boiling. It's caused by the expansion of water and glycol as they heat up in a closed system. The same as it contracts and draws coolant from the overflow bottle when it cools on our trucks The high...

    Oil in valley pan

There's an oil pressure sensor on the top of the 093 setup and a block for the oil feed line. I forgot which turbo setup you had.

    Oil in valley pan

You're sure it's not a turbo oil line olive right? Or sensor ? Or the oring for the pedestal?

    Coolant catch can

Those are entire system pressure expansion tanks. Not cap relief open tanks. I don't see why you couldn't use one though. It wouldn't go to radiator cap overflow it would be tied into a heater core line or something

    Doesn't make sense

my OBS 7.3l PSD whistles much lower at low boost/spooling up that it does under boost.

    Factory trailer wiring and relay!?

I think brake controllers are usually 4 wires? Constant battery 30amp or so fused 10gauge, ground 10 gauge, brake pedal/light switch 12-14 gauge and trailer brake output 10gauge. I wouldn't reuse any harness your are positive of the condition on.

Can't get upper radiator hose to seal

It can be rough it just can't have any loose rust on it or I'll weep through. I'd say wire wheel it and use two clamps

    Brake controller wiring

I've had a Tekonsha p3 in my last 5 vehicles from 1993-2015s. The display always stays on and will go off after a half hour or so of not being used. It's definitely the best brake controller I've ever used. I ran power fused from the battery and ground direct as well as new wiring to the rear...

Can't get upper radiator hose to seal

I used a brass wire wheel on a grinder. Mine was pretty rough. I ended up using two hose clamps. That fixed it.

    weird filler neck question

I've had two go and it was only the float not the sender. I can remove the sender with the front tank still in place if it's the front tank. Just replace the brass float snaps right in. Or atleast remove it and actuate it to see if the sender is bad. Good time to inspect the foot valve too

    Thinking of building a trailer

No, not at all. I was just showing it goes that high since it's power up and power down. It's really stabile actually since there is no suspension when it's tilted. It's mounted at the ball and that's essentially a 7ft wide stabilizer at the ground.

    Thinking of building a trailer

I bought my trailer already built I can look when I get home. Ringo makes these trailers http://www.ringohill.com/ecommerce/ringo-trailers/6-9-x-20-construction-hydraulic-tilt-trailer-12-000-gvw-with-wood-floor.php
