Yeh, Sad Day. Rare IDI E Gone.

No insurance can "legally" force you to give up your vehicle. They may declare it "totaled" and if you choose to keep it, they can send you a check for the value of the vehicle minus the "salvage value" that they loose by you not giving them the vehicle. I have come to realize one of the...

    7.3 injector lines getting old

Problem with steel braided lines is the lines are actually rubber or some sort of high pressure plastic hose. With the pressure the injection system runs at the lines will slightly expand with each pulse (likely won't be able to see it), so you likely will end up delivering less fuel at a lower...

    7.3 injector lines getting old

This is important. My #1 cylinder line cracked right at the "button", I had got lazy and not re-installed the clamps. Got a replacement line from a wrecking yard and re-installed the missing clamps and haven't had a problem in 10 years. You also asked about lenght... I recall reading in some...

    F350 steering box upgrade

I have the redhead steering gear box and replaced the steering shaft with a Borgeson, farily expensive, but I've never driven an OBS with as tight/nice steering as my truck has now. About 30K miles on them and still as good as the day I installed everything.

Worried about my 7.3 IDIT's health

Agree on the Turbo. I dropped over to Russ Repair's website and dropped a note to look into getting it done. I have a little north of 240k miles on the engine, bought the truck with about 160k miles on it. I have no idea when the Banks Turbo was put on it so not sure how many miles are on it...

Worried about my 7.3 IDIT's health

Finally had a cool weekend that I wasn't sucked into something else so I did a "physical" on my engine. Compression test. Drove the truck until the engine was at normal running temperature... but by the time I got all the crud out of the way and all the glow plugs out (only so fast my back...

    Show us what you tow!

You are correct about how it is manufactured... I was trying to relate from a wind drag stanpoint and made a bit too basic of a statement.

    Diesel Fuel Additives

1st what is your intent? Increasing Cetane? Anti-gel, Anti-fungal, or Anti-wear? Combination of all? If you are looking to reduce wear, than "personal off the cuff experiance" really isn't a good indicator. It's best to refer to actual fuel system wear tests. In the test below (you can search...

Expanded medal will have a high aerodynamic drag. This has been demonstrated on aircraft.... the thin cross wires that old biplanes used were found to cause more drag than using 2 inch thick struts shaped like an airfoil. You'll notice the modern aerobatic sport biplanes use large airfoil...

So what did you do with your truck today?

They were on it when I bought the truck. I was told they were the optional upgrade alloy wheels Ford offered in 93, I never looked into it to verify. I've seen a couple other OBS duallys with them.

So what did you do with your truck today?

The old beast can still shine.... after 4 hours of waxing and cleaning trim Kind of happy it doesn't have a clear coat, I imagine after all these years it would be peeling like crazy. Sometimes the old ways last longer.

So what did you do with your truck today?

If you get board you are more than welcome to "practice" on my all black CC Dually I was just looking at my truck yesterday realizing it is overdue for a good wax job. It's a lot of work!

Where do you shop for trailer parts?

For axles, springs, and brakes I often find good deals with Southwest Wheel. https://www.southwestwheel.com/

Most my towing is pulling my 9k lbs travel trailer. We try to go somewhere about once a month with one long vacation per year... can't wait for November, three weeks of bliss away from the crowds. :)

Yea, I just need to do it. I kept talking myself out of it because there "has to be a reason" it's there...

    One new tire

My moto... if I take a bolt / nut off... anti-sieze is a requirement for reasmmbly. I've thanked my past self many times for this. :)

So what did you do with your truck today?

If you have it... you'll never need it. Get rid of it, and you'll need it in a week. It's the universal law of spare parts.

    One new tire

Only problem... at least on my 1993 F350, the hub has a "clocking dowel", as a result there is exactly one clocking position each wheel can go on. Quite annoying as with my factory aluminium rims, the valve stems of the inner steel rim is forced to be behind one of the "spokes" of the outer...

Tapatalk is now up and running.

Tapatalk not working? Kept getting a "Can't connect" errors. So I removed the forum and tried to re-add it, and get a "Network Error, please try again later. (get config)" messgae. None of the other forums in my Tapatalk app are having this issue.

My '93 F-250 IDI Overhaul Thread

On my 93, I installed a Redhead Gear, and a Borgeson Steering Shaft. I'm VERY happy with it, there is no noticable slop in the steering. After install, they alignment tech even mentioned he hadn't seen an F350 with tight steering like mine. Downside, the Borgeson Steering Shaft is expensive...

Worried about my 7.3 IDIT's health

I have a cheap bore-scope... is it possible to feed one through the injector hole and pre-cup in any way that it is worth while to see the top of the piston? My hunch is my cheap bore-scope won't be small and flexible enough to work it down through the small area.

Worried about my 7.3 IDIT's health

Agree, not going to knee jerk and pull the engine. My comment of having Wes rebuild it was meant to be sarcastic. Although if I ended up going down that path I would searoisly consider having Wes do it. Next step is a compression test. Traveling for work at the moment so it has to wait...
