New IDI Story In Diesel World

Well, my Dad is set to retire next summer and I’ll be transitioning towards him. He says he’s going to sell his house and downgrade but build a nice garage so if I give him a hand I’m thinking within the next 2 or 3 years I might have the resources and ability to do it. Gives me time to continue...

So if done right, is there really any harm to a 6.9 if you put a banks turbo on it? This video just convinced me that I need one haha

    Vacuum pump pully failure?

Oh that’s how I felt for sure. Especially because I broke the first pump I bought trying to press the pulley on with a press we have in the shop to test aviation jacks :smash: back end started to leak oil real quick lol live and learn!

    Vacuum pump pully failure?

Yeah $143 seems steep, maybe you got a better than oem one? I paid like $45 for my pulley at NAPA. I’m thinking there had to be something wrong with yours from the factory, or maybe the mailman took his lunch break with it smashed under his arse eating an Arby’s sandwich, you never know! But...

    Vacuum pump pully failure?

I just replaced my vacuum pump a few months back. I could tell it went because on my drive home it started making a clacking noise. I still had power brakes though so maybe mine was near close to shittin the bed? But as the others have said, DEFINITELY get the pulley remover and installer tool...

    Engine Starts Then Dies

Don’t want to hijack this post but have to ask, is an EGT gauge a thing if you don’t have a turbo? Is that dumb? Would it serve any purpose?

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yeah the brown and tan will grow on you for sure. If I ever get the need to repaint it, I think I’d keep the same color scheme and send it! The old dog has never left me astray

So what did you do with your truck today?

Finally got the bedside spare tire mounted. All thanks to @firehonomichl ! Original plan was to mount tire in bed and install 38 gal tank below but previous owner had welded a sturdy tow support bar in the way. In hindsight I should have looked before I got all excited about the project. But...

    Somebody better buy this truck!

High voltage utility bucket, what a trip. Dude must have been a contract lineman or bought it from an outfit. I never thought of any one person owning a rig like that for personal work. Cool find!

    Wyoming get together?

I would love to make it. This year I’m stuck in Jersey but if this went on again next summer I’d be there for certain. Any of those places would be sweet!

    which return line kit ??

I’m going to second what chillman and others will say, you gotta use viton o rings and spit all over those things when you put them in. What I really mean is lube them up nice and good. Buying from any of the above suppliers and doing that should have you on the road trouble free for years to come

    Engine Oil Analysis In... Coolant?

Thanks @stealth13777 after doing some digging around I did find a spec sheet for my oil and comparing that to my results and what the company says should widen my scope of understanding. @IDIBRONCO lmao considering her age and weight I’d say that’s about right :joker:

    Engine Oil Analysis In... Coolant?

Means a lot! Basically what I wanted to hear haha. I mean after watching Peg throw slave lake around like he does, I want to say the engine is near bulletproof.

    Engine Oil Analysis In... Coolant?

Hahha I mean, I wouldn’t put it past them. Roger that though. I remember reading about blackstone and I’ll have to go with them for the second run. I can’t say I’m noticing any loss of coolant except for the small leak from the thermostat housing. I see that but am waiting for warmer weather and...

    Engine Oil Analysis In... Coolant?

Hey ya'll, so I received my engine oil analysis results today. I went with the kit from NAPA, bought it in store and then sampled the oil and mailed it to the Georgia lab. Overall it took about 2 weeks which was good in my book. I had about 700-1,000 miles on the oil at time of sampling. I run...
