    Need help identifying a knock

How are the clearances and engine mounts? Could be part of the turbo piping or transmission housing contacting the frame or firewall?

    Rear taillight wiring question

Sounds right to me. Here is a diagram that may help, but things could be different if someone has got into it before you. It's kinda expensive, but for situations like this a Power Probe is worth every cent.

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

A couple other things. An even quicker test would be to energize the timing advance plunger once the engine is warm as long as you know that the timing advance actually works. It won't work at high rpm, but should advance it 2-3* at idle, enough that you should be able to tell if it helps any...

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

I agree with Black Dawg. Sounds like a timing issue. Most likely too retarded. If you don't have a timing device. You could try advancing the timing just a bit by rotating the IP towards the passenger fender. If that improves the situation, then you have found the problem.

    An A/C question

I've been fiddling with my AC for a while, and finally have it where it's working good so figured I'd add my $0.02. If you're getting a kit that come with the condenser, then all good. But my truck '92, was converted to r134a, and still uses the original condenser and works just fine. The PO...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

Well a bit of good news with the bad I reckon. Just found a 7.3 locally that's already been pulled. Price seems fair, so I'll more than likely get it. I was thinking I'd have to wait until fall to start a rebuild cause I don't have enough room in the shop right now to pull an engine from a...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

So I guess my injection pump has failed? It's went retarded again. I'm going to adjust it, but I don't think it's going to have enough adjustment left to get back in time.

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

I was able to get it back in time without jumping a tooth. I did have to remove the injector lines from the back of the pump. I honestly do not see how it would be possible to just loosen the lower lines without removing the top ones first. Moved it nearly all the way to the end of the...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

I've adjust the pump about as much as I can without removing the injector lines. It's got it from 4.5* ATDC to ~3* BTDC. I came across this post in another thread. https://www.oilburners.net/threads/7-3-6-9-idi-injection-pump-play-or-loose.84174/page-2 I think that's pretty close to what...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

Oh and I did some more investigation on the chuff and smoke issue. Turns out it's not a valve after all. It was a timing issue. She was extremely retarded. Like 4.5* ATDC! I think I know why and now I'm just hoping I haven't killed the injector pump. The PO said that they haven't used...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

Yeah, it's still holding up really well! But I did notice a leak from the low side fill port valve. The conversion fittings I had on here are really ******. I just tightened the Schrader valve and it seemed to stop the leak. But I'll keep that in mind and will probably remove the fitting if it...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

Apparently my compression tester has given up the ghost. It'll read, but won't hold pressure. I threw it on there anyway. Doesn't look like I have any totally dead holes. The needle was topping out around the 300psi range for each cylinder. Obviously not super accurate, but they are at least...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

Whelp... She started chuffing real good out the exhaust today. I'm guessing it's exhaust valve guide issues. I was hoping to wait for fall and swap in a rebuilt engine, but I don't want to drop a valve and turn the bock to scrap. But it's also my only running truck right now. :joker: Any...

    Radiator Options as of 2023

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Apparently it is a 2 row, but like I said it works crazy good for me. Sticker says it's a Spectra CU1165 Edit: I believe this is the same one on Rock Auto https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/spectra+premium,CU1165,radiator,2172 And I have a manual, so...

    Radiator Options as of 2023

I'll see if I can find some numbering on my aluminum radiator. It works crazy good. It was 90 ish the other day and the temp needle hardly even moved even when blasting the AC. I swear the whole engine compartment could literally be on fire, but that radiator would still keep the engine nice and...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

They looked pretty clean, but I gave it a spray with the pressure washer just in case. I did what I talked about in the last post, and also did the ranger vacuum control heater valve mod and it's been working great for the last couple of days. It'll freeze the nuts off a yeti. I'm gonna call it...

    Will a 88 f350 dually wheel fit a 92 f250.

It worked. Made it to the tire shop. Thank y'all! Guess I need to go and buy a spare so I won't be in that position again.

    Will a 88 f350 dually wheel fit a 92 f250.

Yep it fit turned to the outside. Now let's see if it'll ride! Gotta make it 11 miles.

    Will a 88 f350 dually wheel fit a 92 f250.

Oh and it's one of the rear wheels. Figured that would be important to mention.

    Will a 88 f350 dually wheel fit a 92 f250.

I had a blow out in the f250. I don't have a spare but I have an extra tire and wheel from an 88 f350 drw. Can someone confirm if they would be interchangeable for me to limp it home or to a shop?

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

The new orifice tube had a very small amount of gunk on it. I imagine what was left in the compressor that I couldn't get cleaned out. I'm going to replace it with the blue one and wire in one of those aftermarket high pressure cutoff switches that connects to the high side fill port. That...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

I was able to go for a drive yesterday and engine temps were fine! So engine cooling systems are fine. Now time to move on to the occupant cooling systems. :frustrate I've been doing battle with the AC. Unfortunately, here in the south it gets hot enough to make the devil break a sweat so AC...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

It was definitely the thermostat! Old one did not open at all. I'll take it for a drive tomorrow once the permatex has had time to set, and I expect it to be fine.

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I haven't paid attention to it on a cold start, but I will tomorrow morning. Is there a sure fire way to test it? I've tried moving the fan blades when the engine is cold, and once it's warmed up, and it seems about the same as the old one. Which I'm pretty...

    New Project Truck. 92 250 4x4 Manual.

Thankfully mine is a serpentine belt so there shouldn't be any slipping issues. Although I guess it's still possible. I will check. I'm about to get into this thing and I'll check the old thermostat once it's out and I reckon that'll clear things up. Should be able to post an update this...
