    TIMING SERVICE REGISTRY

I don’t guess I ever put myself on here I’m in Milton, TN, but Nashville or Murfreesboro works too I’ve got a DTI tech time and I’m not afraid to use it.

Currently the intake duct is just wedged under the cruise control servo and ends a few inches from the fender. It seems to draw in cool air there, but I feel like it’s louder in the cab at higher rpm’s there. My thoughts have bounce around on this one from a Hypertech cowl intake, to cutting a...

    Chip swap?

I would rank it as highly unlikely. Unlikely that it would work, and even less likely that Ford would let it happen. Just my $.02

So, here’s the way it looks under the hood right now. It’s a tight fit for everything, but I’m pretty happy. I really like the pedal feel of the hydro boost setup, and I works great. I still need to modify the adjuster arm for the alternator, but I’ve got a scrap of silicone boot protecting the...

So, as I was waiting for My new pump and injectors from CDD, I decided to dig into the Brake booster issue. As I first started checking things, I found the split in the check valve grommet. easy enough I thought, so I put in a new check valve and grommet. When I fired it up, (still running...

At this point in the build I buttoned everything up, refilled all the fluids, and bled the fuel system. I started the truck and was immediately disappointed. The engine was running like garbage. It was running so rough I was convinced there was a dead cylinder. The glow plug controller seemed to...

Alternative way to install head studs

My understanding is that you would have to pull the engine out of the truck to do that, and at that point why not just pull it and do it right? The issue is there are a few bolts that have to be removed and installed with the head. I think it’s the HVAC box that keeps them from coming all the...

    Another option for studs

    Red Truck conversion

Just curious, looks like the roof is blue on the blue truck but white on the red truck. Am I seeing it wrong, or is one not “correct”?

So the piping kit I used was obviously a universal affair. The factory finished ends have a nice bead rolled in them. I came up with this for the ends I cut. It's a standard tail pipe expander. I used a scrap of 2.5" exhaust pipe to make it work right. then i gently tapped the end with a...

I don't know yet. I do plan on keeping an eye on it though. That's why my original preference was to have the core of the intercooler down lower. I'm planning on opening up some space in the front bumper for more air flow down the road too.

I wanted to keep the stock air filter housing, because there's just something I don't like about the BHAF setups. Also, in this pic you can see a nice split in the gromet for the check valve on the vacuum booster. More on that later too. I had to do a little bit of trimming on the core support...

A list of questions while I'm into it this far

I decided that before I had the cooling system filled, it would be best to go ahead and get an intercooler system fabbed up. This was the first piece. It's made from a chunk of 5" sch 40 pipe, some plate, and a piece of 3" exhaust pipe. I figured if the tab for the bolt was inside, I wouldn't...

There’s just a few things to mention at this point in the story. I made notes during disassembly for which rods went with which cylinders so I could put them back in the same Spots. The heads were reman from Allied machine which I’ve linked in other threads. I didn’t feel like they were...

So what did you do with your truck today?

The only thing to note is that it needs to contact the brass ring only. If the connector contacts the steel portion of the adapter, it would ground out the signal and not work.

assembly began once I got everything back from the machine shop. I went with Engine Tech bearings, and new lifters from them as well. The head gaskets are FelPro. I did do the 6.9 cooling mod. I used the witness marks of the passages on the old gaskets to locate the holes on the new gaskets. I...

I threw some paint on the turbo too. I didn’t catch this at first glance. I can’t remember what brand this thermostat was, but probably MotoRad. It never gave me any problems but it only had 15k miles on it. I promptly ordered a new Motorcraft one. This pic shows what was left of the exhaust...

I decided to do a little bit of painting. Nothing fancy here just some high heat Rustoleum. I also replaced the inner shift boot on the ZF5. Old vs. new. I forgot to order a new gasket, so I just made my own. With everything lubed up (wd-40) it went together pretty easy.

Continued... I usually add a little bit of sealant under the sleeves, you may see some squishing out in some of the pics. I'm going to try and do some of these posts when I have time and try and get caught up with where things are now.

Well, I guess it's time for some updates here. There has been a lot of ground covered, but I'm getting close to finished with it. I made the decision to have the block bored .030" over and install new pistons. I found a set of Mahle 224-3512 HAWR .030. Thats a set of 8 IDIT pistons with...

Banks Turbo Install - Turbo and Pressure Chamber Not Lining Up

For me, 220v in the shop is probably more important for a big compressor than a welder. I have 2 Hobart handler 140’s one at home, and one at work. They were my only welders for years, and were plenty for anything up to 1/4” thick. I also run flux core wire most of the time, and I know that...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yep. It’s getting very close to done. I should have been daily driving it by now, but there have been a couple of hurdles. I think I’m close to having all those resolved very soon.

Conestoga Diesel (in PA) = Moose Diesel (in SC)?

Don’t worry, Brandon’s sticking it to Putin. No more oil from Russia. We’ll buy it from his friends in Venezuela and Iran instead.
