Fluid type in 1989 ZF5 and transfer case lubricant

NAPA or Amazon for the Royal Purple. I have a NAPA just a block away from my office. This is one of those things they don’t normally have in stock but can get in an hour or two from the warehouse.

I think this one may not sell very fast

I know I’ve said several times that the value on our trucks is moving up, but I think this guys pricing is well ahead of the curve. But, it’s a clean looking truck. I’m not a fan of the wheels though. Craigslist ad

    1986 F250 HD 4x4 hubcaps

I may not be in a bullnose, but I’ll keep an eye out and have a wave at the ready. I live outside of Murfreesboro and commute to Nashvile every day. My ‘92 isn’t my daily driver right now, but it should be back in that role in a month or two.

Air bubbles in clear fuel return line

What you describe sounds more like an issue on the supply side of things. A leak in the return lines can lead to hard restarts, but won’t cause any issues when it’s running. It sounds to me like your issue lies somewhere in between the fuel in the tanks and the lift pump. And likely between the...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I wouldn’t feel bad about Walmart batteries. They’re all pretty much a crapshoot anymore regardless of who’s name is on it. I sure wouldn’t rush to replace them before they fail.

Air bubbles in clear fuel return line

Are you having any issues, or is this just something you noticed and are concerned? The flow of fuel in the return lines is from the IP, through the injector caps, and back to the tank. It sounds like just a couple of small bubbles that get caught in the injector return cap that float back up...

    Assemble an oil cooler?

If you have a press I’d use it. It’s slow and controllable. It doesn’t require that much force, just more than you can do with a woodworking clamp. If not, you can use a 2x4 as a lever with one end under something hefty like a trailer hitch or a heavy work bench.

Headlights...I cant see diddly squat at night

The thing with LEDs is that you don’t need to worry about adding relays because they only draw about half the wattage of the halogens. The ones I use only draw 30 watts each as opposed to 55 watts for the stock halogens. I would avoid the “off road use only” Hella bulbs. They draw way to much...

Fluid type in 1989 ZF5 and transfer case lubricant

I run Royal Purple Synchromax in my ZF5 and am very happy with it. It feels like it makes it shift smoother, and maybe makes it a little quieter. The Transfer case gets ATF, but I would look for a synthetic Dexron III/ Mercon spec fluid. The newer Dexron VI/ Mecon LV fluid is significantly lower...

Repeated Hub seal failure for Sterling 10.25"?

Not all two piece seals are the same. The ones that you have to drive into the hub can get put in crooked and wear prematurely. I like the SKF 34384 Scotseal Plus XL. It is designed to install by hand, and eliminate install errors.

So what did you do with your truck today?

What kind of cracks are you talking about? It’s hard for me to imagine a crack in the cylinder walls that wouldn’t be terminal.

Yeah, you can clock the bulb any way you want once it’s installed. It’s basically just a friction fit of the bulb in the adapter. I like this design better than other LED bulbs I’ve used. I bought another brand of LED’s for the fog lights in my GMC and I had to drill and tap some tiny holes in...

    RockAuto Wholesaler Closeout Parts

I’ve returned plenty of stuff to RockAuto. Yes you have to do it online, but that’s a way they cut costs, and it save you money in the long run. I’ve had issues at some time or other with virtually every company I’ve ever bought some thing from. Online or local, big business or mom and pop, it’s...

1991 econoline e350 pulsing rythmic to engine 7.3 idi na e4od

My fist at take on things is that I’m seeing a lot of red flags with your fuel system. Being that your issue seems load dependent I think that’s a good place to start. I don’t think your electric fuel pump is up to the task. The specs seemingly all e-pumps have, are best case scenario. That...

Headlights...I cant see diddly squat at night

That must be an error on Rockauto’s part. If you look in the descriptions the TYC and Dorman both list the same Ford part #’s as cross over. That seems like corroboration that they are the same between F-super and F350. But yes I think the LED’s make the difference.

I guess that means there weren’t poop stains.

Headlights...I cant see diddly squat at night

Ok, so this is facing my shop. The driveway slopes up to the shop a bit here, so it makes it look like they’re angled up higher than they are. Low beams High Beams These are pointed down the driveway towards the road. I opened the door to take the pics, so you wouldn’t have to look through...

Headlights...I cant see diddly squat at night

I’ve been really happy. The low beams stay really low, but still spread wide, and the high beams light everything up pretty well. If I can remember, I’ll get a couple pics of the lights later when it gets dark.

They are TYC I believe. I’ve been impressed with their quality on other vehicles as well. They’re about $40 for the pair.

Headlights...I cant see diddly squat at night

I’ve got less than $100 in the headlights on my 92, and the output is better than the factory HIDs on my 2016 GMC

Headlight / dimmer switch keeps popping fuse..

The thing to remember when troubleshooting a lighting circuit, is that every bulb is a path to ground. So, if you’re simply checking for continuity between the brown wire and ground, you would need to remove every bulb that’s on that circuit.

    This does not look good

It’s obviously not good, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world. I’ve seen gear sets with rust pitting like that, that have still done lots of miles. It all comes down to what you’re planning on doing with the truck. If you’re using the truck every day for work hauling around 15k lbs of...
