    Glowshift Gauges?

I like my glow shift gauges. The quality seems good, and I like the sending units. I also really like the way they look at night, much easier on the eyes than the typical aftermarket gauges that light up the whole face. I went with a combo boost, pyro, coolant temp and separate oil pressure and...

another ZF5 roll over thread.... with excessive roll over noise.

Maybe it’s the transfer case. Just throwing ideas out there. But that does sound pretty awful.

1994 7.3 turbo IDI exit part to tie exhaust to

Does yours look like this? This is my factory turbo. And the down pipe looks like this. There’s a slotted tab welded to the down pipe that connects to the stud for the crossover pipe with a twisted piece of flat bar. That is the only thing holding it in place. Check out the parts diagram I...

    Vacuum Pump

If it was only 5 days old, I think I would be taking it back to Napa and demanding a refund or replacement.

1994 7.3 turbo IDI exit part to tie exhaust to

That’s not correct. These are Powerstroke down pipes. I apologize, it seems my search engine thought it new better than what I was looking for. 52105 is the Banks PSD down pipe.

This is the stock IDIT down pipe next to the Banks one

1994 7.3 turbo IDI exit part to tie exhaust to

If you’re asking me, no. Mine is a factory turbo motor, but my outlet and down pipe looks like this.

1994 7.3 turbo IDI exit part to tie exhaust to

The factory turbo exhaust elbow used a V-band clamp to attach the down pipe, and the pipe was flattened for firewall clearance. My turbo has a 3” slip fit on it, and the pipe is a full 3” all the way. I believe it was an upgrade available from ATS at the time. Im pretty sure the banks 52105...

    Want to buy ARP studs

I had a guy who buys wholesale from ARP looking for some for me a couple months ago. He called them, and they were out of stock at the time. I believe they said it was going to be around the end of the year before they were back in production on that set. I ended up getting a set from Wes at...

Saw this at an auction today.

So I went to what was promoted as a farm equipment and power sports auction this morning in Columbia, TN. A lot of what they had seemed pretty well used up and generally not that well taken care of. I usually enjoy going to auctions even if I’m not planning on buying anything, but the real...

Bad sound on a fresh rebuild (video)

Do you have the belts on it? I swear I’ve heard a vac pump sound exactly like that before. I know it’s a long shot, I’m hoping it’s something simple for you.

    “The 6.9” project thread

Post a pic of the spindle. It may not be as bad as you think. I’ve seen some pretty gnarly looking damage that can be cleaned up with a file and emery cloth.

    Cavitation or head gasket

Looks more like corrosion to me than a glow plug tip or some other foreign object. I would think the aluminum piston would have taken the brunt off the damage if that were the case.

    Cavitation or head gasket

Check the valve guides while you’re in there. These motors like to wallow them out. I had some so bad you could wobble the stem with the springs still on.

Poll: Sleeved and Non-Sleeved IDI Engines

Maybe it’s because I’m on my phone, or because I’m not a Democrat, but I couldn’t see how to cast more than one vote for the same choice.

    Rear axle seals and bearings

Not correct. A semi floating axle has the wheel studs attached to the axle shaft. There will also be only one bearing at the wheel end. A full floater will have two. Also the sterling doesn’t use a gasket. It’s an o ring that seals between the hub and axle flange.

Poll: Sleeved and Non-Sleeved IDI Engines

Do you want factory builds in this or just rebuilds. If so, I can list 7 different 7.3’s and they all went over 100k from the factory. One over 500k.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I spent a few hours yesterday and today working on odds and ends for my engine rebuild project. I probably should start a thread for that. My block is currently at the machine shop, so I cleaned and painted a few pieces, put a speedy sleeve on the balancer, and replaced the inner shift boot on...

    Trailer Brake Controllers

What ever controller you go with, make sure it’s an inertia type proportional controller. The voyager is an excellent controller, I’ve had several of them over the years, but the learning curve can be a little steep for some people. It uses an actual pendulum to sense deceleration of the truck...

    84’ 6.9 Intake Manifold Gasket

As far as I know it’s like anything else right now. FelPro was the only one making them, and they sold out. I got one of the last couple that were available anywhere, and I believe FelPro was saying it would be towards the end of ‘22 before this particular product would be back in production...

How is it that absolutely nothing in this post was blocked by the censorship software. It may be the turkey talking, but I’m just saying.

    Rear axle seals and bearings

Cubey touched on it, but it’s worth pointing out, the spindle nut is left hand threaded on the driver’s side. I think I’m correct on which side, but the bigger point is one of them is. The axle flange seal on the sterling is a large o-ring. I’m sure there’s an industrial cross over, but when I...
