I agree with Brian. There are more options available today for little upgrades because guys have improved the mousetrap.
Now I may get flamed for this but...
I never moved my GPC, deleted the CDR (so I never installed the turbo valve covers) and never installed the heat shields. I did have a...
Yes - big difference on the DP. I cut my factory one in half to see the restriction. Just to help ease your mind a bit... Many years ago I bought a factory 093 turbo from Darrin Tosh - sight unseen, complete, for $750. I upgraded the down pipe, and housing (can't remember what the actual...
I voted for my backyard. In talking to Erica last night we would really like to make a solid week of it a try to lend a hand were needed to Rob and Mike. The shorter drive helps since most likely I would rent a camper and tow it with Teddy Bear (yes, she renamed my truck this week).
Nice to know since my "new" truck has those rails. Never seen what hitch itself looked like. We got a place not too far that deals in old plows, caps, running boards, hitches (pretty much anything that can bolt on or off a truck nose to ass). Might check his inventory one day.
I miss my Reese...
Rob, Not sure what my life will look like next year (calmer than current, I hope!) but I think we (Erica and me) would be willing to assist. Not sure on the camper for us either, but...
Pulling them is not the issue - studding them and getting the head back on is. I never studded mine, but I pulled heads and oil pan in frame. I'll never pull the pan in frame again.
You need to get your paint work done so I can move my truck in! ;Poke
Glad it ran well and the trailer looks nice. Next year we do a shake down run to G-Burg for a weekend. At the rate I am moving it will take me that long to get the pop up in shape.
PA sees them yearly. IMHO, MD only sees them when registered. Keep the tags and insurance current and you can drive a steamy heap of crap! I think most techs expect a bunch of issues. I bypassed inspection on my truck and went with historic plates. I have to be more diligent in how I use the...
Well.... I think I get to add to my list of firsts...First non family member to ride in Project Big Red.
The truck is awesome - the work Mike has done to it is insane. The sound of a ball bearing turbo is something that would take me a minute to get used to. Don't remember the sound from when I...
I would think if you are worried about hydrolock, pull the GP and bar it over.
That is great news from Promar. Like we talked about yesterday - ease of repair and warranty. A little of your own labor is worth not pulling the motor!
Not sure of the noise by the intake pipe - maybe just you moving? The motor itself sounds 100% better than mine does. To me (and wtf do I know) the clatter sounds perfect. I know on my dually after Mel timed it (way retarded) it had a nice clatter to it.
My dually was Isspro for pyro, boost and tranny temp all on the pillar. Autometer for water, oil and volts on the dash.
Current truck is a mutt - banks pyro, autometer tranny and I cant even tell you the other one! As I restore her, she will get Isspro
IMHO you will be happy with the room / ride trade off on fuel economy. The 5.3 has cylinder deactivation. I forget all of the caveats for it to kick in (been almost 5 years since I was selling Chevys) but if you keep your foot out of it you should see 18 - 22 highway. Z71 was offered in two...
Come on Mike...do the used car lot special and slap some plastic fender flares on it with double sided tape and call it good ;Poke
says the guy who owns a truck with surface rust on every panel....
I don't think that bed is hateful for our area. Wheel arches look good. I would repair it and run it. When a pristine one comes along you can consider swapping.
Not sure about the GPC. I ordered mine from Amazon - Diesel RX. Two months of sitting and she fired last night after one cycle of...
Does the tick sound like a safety chain (the ones you hook up when towing a trailer) hitting pavement? That was the sound I heard on occasion before a push rod decided to see the light of day.
You drown the front two if parked nose down...ask me how I know.
To the OP, it appears to be rain water to me and I think tow kitty hit the nail on the head with why and how it got there.
