80-86 doors are different than 87-97 doors. They will fit on, but the interior trim holes are different. I have an 80-86 door on my 89 and it didn't have the right holes for the door interior panel. Looking at the filler strip between the vent window and side glass I would say it has the 87 and...
Hate to say it i'm with the other guys and think its an issue in the engine that will require tear down. Try doing a pressure test on the cooling system overnight. See if it drops pressure. If it drops you got a leak. Being it isn't mixing fluids I'd say it's compression chamber. Could always do...
So I had a tick and white smoke last weekend. Truck was running weird. While I was trying to fix that I came across a couple other things.
1. Change your fuel filter once in a while is what I learned. I was doing the old ATF filter trick and when I pulled the filter to add ATF found this...
Yeah I still like SBC in my hotrods. Although I might put a 351 in my 50 ford. We will see. My 63 fairlane still runs a 170 straight 6 although i think it needs poser forced induction.
Laser - can you post a detail pic of your rubber block off plugs you made? I'm having trouble envisioning...
It's looking awesome. I love the script idea on the valve covers. Looks really cool. I have a 350 SBC in my 49 international pickup and plan to do something similar. I really like the zinc looking valve covers. Understated in an awesome way!

Sometimes I'm glad to be lucky vs good.
Well I ran it down the road quite spirited and it cleaned up. So yeah definitely a fuel system issue. Glad I replaced the filter. Glad I figured out the lift pump was bad. I drove this truck for 10 years with no lift pump issues before tear down. Since...
Engine was a drop in Reman back in 1998 or 1999. So it's got probably 100K on it, but sat for a while when I rebuilt the truck. Fuel systems that old also. Always ran so good hated to mess with it.
I may take this one to the local diesel shop. They're pretty good.
Intake noise. When I run it up you can here a light tick

Exhaust at idle. It gets a deep tone that comes and goes.

I did pop cylinders and couldn't really isolate a cylinder. Truthfully I'm just happy it runs again at this point.
I'm...
Well it runs again. Still not right, but finally got it to start. Ended up putting a new lift pump on it. Ran some fuel out of the fuel lines under the cab. Fuel looked absolutely clean. Don't remember when I put the filter on. I'm guessing all the crap was when the tanks were put back into...
Oil looked fine. Didn't actually pop the radiator cap yet. Will tomorrow. Changed the fuel filter tonight, it had all sorts of crap in it. Absolutely crazy the amount of crap in that filter. So I've got a internal tank rust issue it looks like.
I can't get the pig fired back up. Just won't...
On the way to work the 89 started ticking and blowing white smoke out the exhaust. At idle it's running rough also. So based on the white smoke and running rough I'm thinking fuel system. Bad injector probably? I'm not thinking valve train because it isn't running consistently rough. It kind of...
Yeah I was going to add. Measure diagonals on the frame from symmetrical holes. If the measurements don't match then the frame is diamond. It can be pulled, but depends on how good your frame guy is. Diamond frames seem to pull better than smashed frames has been my experience from doing wrecks.
Once you buy it back I'd round up a fully loaded Dually rear end with springs from the salvage yard. Order up the replacement spring shackles and get them installed. Seems like easily less than $1500 bucks and a weekend would have it back on the road. I understand your mounts are bent and hard...
So I painted some flares for my crewcab. I'd just done a set for another guy and figured I might as well do mine as I was setup for them. I'm pleased with how they turned out. I still need to do some two toning on my truck before I install them.
1. Cleaned with Waterborn cleaner
2. Scuffed...
I use it on interior and plastic body parts all the time. I put it under sealer so I don't see an issue putting it under epoxy primer. Not sure if I'd put it under an acid etch.
I've watched the videos also and see they say to use it like on the back of fenders and hoods that are hard to...
Try checking your timing. Seems like on my trucks timing makes a big difference with water temps. I run a champion aluminum radiator and . I just pulled 20K lb total truck and trailer about 180 miles in 90 degree temps. Air was blasting the whole time.
Something doesn't seem right. Normally...
yeah when I had issues I flipped the timing light clamp on the inductive loop and it worked. So that was my suggestion also.
Sounds like there maybe issues with the ferret.
What was the high side pressure running?
31oz of charge is low I believe. Now did the 7oz can of oil have any freon in it? I've read and been told you charge R134 to 80% (numbers vary) of what the R12 charge was supposed to be. On these trucks I think the R12 charge was 44oz but have seen...
Check out the luk pictures on rockauto for a turbo and non turbo flywheel. Those would be single mass. I was thinking your running a south bend and it used similar flywheel as luk.
Yeah the turbo engines are supposed to have the 1/4" oil port where the turbo oil line goes. Its the port between the intake and the bell housing. As stated the harmonic dampner would be a good visual indicator also.
But yeah pulling a piston is the sure fire method.
