    Tire shop: rant/question...

Here is another calculator for tire beads. https://www.counteractbalancing.com/application-calculator/ I use beads on everything except low profile tires (which I don't have any). Add them to trailer tires... seems like nobody balances trailer tires :Thumbs Up

    Tire shop: rant/question...

+1 I bought a manual changer and never looked back. I put beads in mine to balance. Highly recommend using beads even if you have a bubble balancer!

    Glow plug relay question

I think something else is wrong. Have you confirmed 100% that your glow plugs are heating? Cycle them and feel for warmth or use a clamp-on ammeter (preferred) or voltmeter. is your fuel shut off solenoid clicking?

    Question on Dana 60s

+2 I use a laser level to align mine. Slightly more complicated than a tape measure but you have infinite accuracy. I wrote a description in this thread https://www.oilburners.net/threads/dana-60-wearing-outside-of-tires.81638/page-2

    Need one injector line.

The injector is a metric hydraulic fitting. Go to a good hydraulics shop and they should be able to get one for you off the shelf.

Do I need to "wait to start"?

I installed an oil pressure switch to stop the post-start cycling. Once I have oil pressure the GP's are off. The only time I had problems with this was at -27C cold start in the bush (no block heater). I had to bypass the oil switch so GP's would continue to heat to allow more cylinders to...

    Heavy duty bumpers

I made mine using "stair stringer channel", basically lighter channel with a smaller web. It was easy to notch and bend. I added some center support for the winch. Sorry for the depressing snow in the pic. More pics in my post here...

    Hydroboost 2019

I think you are looking for 1997 and older hydroboost for the best fit (least work). I know I bought a reservoir for mine... will see if I can find the info I posted here ;)

    Truck bed camper thoughts.

I just saw this thread, out of town for work, so I haven't read all of the replies. I saw that you were considering a Promaster so had to post. Do not buy until you drive! In my opinion that thing is an abortion that lived. If you are considering a van (over truck with rv) please look at a...

Is this IDI the right truck for me?

+1 "Will this be a reliable and low maintenance truck?" That depends on you. IMO owning an IDI is approaching a status symbol... "yes I am able to keep a 30 year old truck viable (and hopefully goodlooking).." Same difference if you want to run a damn British car or a Harley. If you want...

    Cheap pyrometer

Accuracy vs precision... I follow the GUM for expressing measurement uncertainty. I just like the fit of the Auber. And chicks dig it! Kidding aside, I really liked the clean install of the digital and the alarm function. I don't chase insignificant figures...

    Cheap pyrometer

+1 Check my turbo tale thread for more on my install. I totally get analog for the visual. My honest opinion is the digital is better for accuracy and chicks dig it.:Thumbs Up And I am a guy who programs analog displays into equipment that requires direct user control or feedback. 30 year old...

    Blank panel in dash

You drive an almost 30 year old truck... adding digital gauge proves you are not just some hilly billy but a sophistimacated hilly billy. :rotflmao And chicks dig it. :music: That's my theory anyway!

Steering ISSUE fix - Drag link roll causing dead spot

@IDIoit @riotwarrior Do either of you have an extra bushing? Member @OBSCrewcabGrant is looking for one; I don't think I have any more and it will probably be a month before I have time to make one.

Simple GP controller mod to stop cycling after start

I considered a manual switch but decided the pressure switch would be much more reliable - don't have to count on occasional drivers remembering how to use it. I don't see the advantage of the temp switch; hot - truck should start right up anyway (so don't need to baby the batteries) and if it...

    Injector copper washers - seals

In a pinch I have reused them. Not very scientific but I blasted them with a propane torch to (hopefully) anneal them. I didn't have any problem afterwards. I love Mcmaster-Carr! Did you try searching their site for Metal Sealing Washers :Thumbs Up

Snorkel maked me wonder... the intake on that must be almost 5 feet off the ground! Not sure what you need to drive through that needs more? :fan: Are you going to paint? Ford code KG would look nice.
