RLDSL uses a 5000 series Brownie box and Gary uses a GV. To the best of my knowledge both report more gains in useability than losses due to extra driveline components being added. These are not triple countershaft units like some of the crash boxes that big rigs use, the parasitic loss is minimal.- GOOSE

I believe its more than just a ratio and how many rpm's you are turning at a certain mph. The higher the axle ratio, the more work your engine will have to do in each gear it pulls. I had to pick up my sister's '08 Wrangler and drop it off to our tranny guy for a new clutch. 9,000lbs between the Jeep and the trailer, the truck didn't even break a sweat. It will be a sacrifice, highway drive vs. towing grunt. I am contemplating 315-75-16's with either 4;56 or 4;88's and a Gear Vendors. I pretty much do not think 4:10's and 35's go together well for towing heavy. These engines were designed and built to run on the governor, not to be lugged...- GOOSE

Camp is set up, our first rallygoers have arrived. Hint: he has a VERY cool black crew cab dually with a custom flat bed and I pack box that is grafted into the rear of the cab. I welcomed our first rallygoer at the campground today. The truck got a new 7 pin socket and an A, B, C type fire extinguisher was mounted on the floor right inside the rear left door. Not a huge amount of work but something to pass a small amount of time.- GOOSE
