    I got the rims with a decent set of Nitto Terra Grapplers for $225, I couldn't pass the deal up at the time and really haven't had a reason to get rid of them nor have I had the money to buy a new replacement set.

    The 285 sides are 14mm taller than the 235/85 tires, less than 9/16 of an inch. Thats not all that much difference. The 50mm difference in width is definitely more of a factor, almost 2 inches. I got a feeling I may lean towards the 285/75-16 Toyo M55 tires......

    Make which ones in E rating? Both the 265 Transforce AT and the 285 Cooper AT3's are E rated.......

    That's good to know. I upgraded from the Transforce HT's to the AT's because of the fact that the last 1/4 of the tread isn't too good. I got the Coopers on my IDI and can't knock them. Good for everything but mud and especially good on the road and in the snow.

    Thanks for the info, Scott. I have that exact ser of tires on my company truck and am very happy with them so far. I haven't checked to see the largest Transforce tire offered yet......

    I spit the rear driveshaft out on Friday evening so a new u joint went in today. I also tightened up a loose trans mount and rotated the tires. I couldn't stand putting the dirty rims out back so I cleaned them up a bit too.

    I'm running a 7.3 with an 093 ATS turbo, ZF 5speed, 4:10's and 285/75-16 Cooper AT3's right now. 217hp/385ft/lbs at the wheels.

    I had 35/12.50-15 BFG Muds on 15x10 Outlaw 2 rims on my 74 F100 with 4" lift and 4:10's with a very healthy 390 pushing it along, that was a great combo of parts, kinda what I'm trying to replicate here.

    My IDI tows 15,000lb traliers and shows me up to meetings on Sundays. You guys are lucky having multiple rigs! That PSD was a DEAL! I'm sure you will have it going in short order. Good luck with it!

    I am currently running Coopers and am pretty happy with them. The picture below is what I tow and have gone from Baltimore MD to Atlantic City NJ, did 60-65 on the interstates without any problem.

    I haven't looked at 295's, I will have to check them out. Calvin, I have a company truck that I can use so I am contemplating larger tires for the 1st time. I did see 255/85-16's and am wondering if I'd be happy with them.

    Yeah but a wider rim gives added stability and the 315 has a 3800lb load rating @ 65psi compared to a 235/85-16's 3100lb rating @ 100psi. The bigger tires hold more load and ride better doing it.

    I will pitch the fact that I'm offering him a service by removing the truck from his yard, for arguments sake, I'm relieving him of an eyesore by now. He has no means to move it by himself and he won't have to expend any of his time if he sells it to me!

    I will check up on it again in a week or two. I'm working 7pm-7am and have a 2hr drive on each side of the shift so time is really tight for the next week or better. The truck is 2wd.

    Hmm, now you got me thinking. I really want a supercab 4x4 dually flatbed. I could sell the bed, at least the dog houses, they are always in demand. I'd be plenty ok with an auto, C6 in particular so I could most likely get some money out of the zf, petals and such as well.
