    FS: 1986 F250 6.9 IDI Long Bed

Yes, that's the link. Apologies. Thanks for finding it. Ok looks like I'm not a million miles away on price. Very little interest so far, which I'm surprised about. It's such a solid truck and low miles..... Thanks again for the input.

    FS: 1986 F250 6.9 IDI Long Bed

Hi, Only owned this truck for 18 months but my work circumstances just changed significantly - not for the better... - and I need to sell it. Other than Craigslist and parking it in a local lot etc, any ideas for a decent online site that will likely move it quickly, in addition to the details...

    Starts the dies - But......

Hello all, 1986 F250, 6.9. I did a lot of work to eliminate air intrusion about six months ago or so. Olives, o-rings, new lift pump, checked all the fuel lines - and more. Truck ran great. Then about a month ago it started pulling a little air. I'd be driving and after an hour or so I'd get...

    Fuel filter question

Thanks. So basically you unscrew it and hold it in your hand and it remains full of fuel pretty much to the top?

    Fuel filter question

Hello, In the middle of tracking down a mild surging issue I realized I hadn't checked the fuel filter to see if it was full. I unscrewed it and the fuel was all the way to the top. In a few seconds, however, it had gurgled some and dropped to around half-way as I looked at it through the...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Thanks. So I can understand, how would this lead to surges of higher power? Or is it more that I'm actually normally running underpowered and there's just the occasional full dose of fuel? Come to that, how would air in the IP lead to momentary higher power? Hoping that if I stick to the front...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Hi all, I've been following the tank discussion. Love it! But...... a new issue. So I changed out the fuel selector valve (as above) and the truck has been running just fine, daily, for a week. On the front tank. Early this morning I switched to the rear tank and drove, including on the...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Yep, the pricing is bizarre. (And this still wouldn't be the right part, given the location of the connectors.) As for the 38-gallon tank, I'm seriously tempted if this fuel selector valve goes south. Or perhaps before. I prefer that idea to the valves in the cab, to be honest. The current FSV...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Looks absolutely identical to the Dorman one I just paid $115 or so for....... But it seems to work!

And here's the one that was a direct swap. Time will tell.....

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

For what it's worth that specific valve is the one which all the websites say will fit my '86 - but it doesn't. Note the different placement on the connectors and the bolt holes don't line up. I'm aware we're talking about a part for a 38-year old truck so I'm not complaining, just clarifying...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Hi. Yes, that's the exact valve which every website (Rock Auto, Autozone etc) and my local O'Reilly Auto store employee told me would fit my F250 - bit it didn't.... It's angled so the fuel lines are awkwardly pressed up against the frame and the nuts don't line up with the original holes...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Just as an update - and in case it helps anyone else down the line - here's what happened..... The leaking fuel selector valve on my 1986 F250 6.9 turned out to be a Pollak, although I don't see a model number. While I'm not sure if it was the original valve, the wiring harness certainly did...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Got it. Thanks, all. Very helpful information as usual, I feel more prepared going into this now. Think I'm going to get the Pollack valve and figure out how to connect the existing lines to it for now, wish the connections were in the same place. Will look into the brass valves at a later...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Thanks as always. Brass valve. Yes, thinking of that method. Not sure I want it in the cab. But also don't want a fussy electronic fuel selector valve... But seems lots of folks like that set up. That Amazon one a) looks like a cheap toy! and b) gets mixed reviews at best. Makes me wary...

    Leaking fuel tank selector valve?

Hello all, So - after working on this truck and ironing out a fair number of issues - thanks to the help of the members of this forum - I was driving to work a couple days ago patting myself on the back for getting all the 'key' jobs done and enjoying owning a reliable vehicle. Silly me. So...

    Belt part numbers

Hi, Following on from the above, I picked up a Krikit belt tension gauge. Cool little thing. Anyone know what the recommended tension is on the four v belts? I'm concerned I have the alternator belt too tight (to prevent the 'flapping' I see at idle, but noted on @IDIBRONCO's comment) but I'm...

    Belt part numbers

Thanks again, Cubey, good to know on the alternator belt. Yes, that's exactly where it's moving a lot, kind of wish I had benchmarked by checking the old belt before I removed it. I'll just keep an eye on it. Thing is, I can't tension the power steering belt any further - the pump is at its...

    Belt part numbers

So a couple questions.... 1) That fan-alternator belt sure does flap around some (and I'm sure it is sufficiently tensioned). Does anyone else have this experience? Really don't feel comfortable tightening it more, but that's a long stretch and it moves a lot. 2) I have the...

Oh, and that's my first time checking out Rock Auto. Great resource, and store. Thanks.

    Belt part numbers

Hi again, I got the belts installed, not too bad a job. But one issue has popped up.....: I installed the Gates 9580 Fleetrunner between the fan and alternator. All good. I installed a Gates 7330 XL between the alternator and vacuum pump but when I get the alternator-fan belt nice and tight...

    Redundant belt pulley?

So the missing AC compressor belt goes around both! Of course - I didn't consider that option. Thanks. See, silly question I guess.

    Belt part numbers

Thanks so much. I'm willing the pay a little extra for reliability. Sorry to ask, but do you have the vacuum pump belt number? Tried going from the numbers above and got nowhere.
