    Toolkit for ignition switch.

This is where my push-button start is connected. I have a black button on black background next to wait-to-start light. very hard to see if you are looking for a button. Does not need to be expensive switch, mine was $2. I added a weatherproof blade fuse holder (5Amp)

    Fuel issues?

Are you running a water dispersal additive and an in-line filter between tank & pump? Not feeding mechanical pump with electric. Run some Hotshot Diesel Extreme in the tanks & check for improvement. Can get most anywhere. May have small leak at filter head under heavy load(heater??)

    Toolkit for ignition switch.

I ended up putting a push button start on mine. Key on, wait for GPs, push button to start. Mine is '86 with tilt which is almost as bad when it messes up.

    3g alternator part #'s for v-belt idi's

Some have tried adding an idler, which I did at first, but the long belt still presents a problem with vibration. I use the cog belts and have had good service from them. Had a friend working in Alaska 1 year when it got to -80 windchill I think & he said everything was throwing serpentine...

    3g alternator part #'s for v-belt idi's

No problem with mine over 10 years of use. But you do as you like. I did the experience, not the figuring. I will take overkill over under-performance always

What batteries do you have in your idi?

Costco warranty is great! "These are not holding charge like they did before" "Still in warranty, ok. 2 replacements. See ya later."

    3g alternator part #'s for v-belt idi's

Excuse me if I am mistaken. Huh? 3G with original (1G) pulley charges at idle where the 1G had to be really spinning to charge (lightly) ALT: 17425......Short belt from ALT to WP only (13A1080)...Eliminates vibration that long belt develops (not a Gold) to stop the squealing and belt jumping.

7.3 idi turbo hard to start

Turn IP to passenger side thickness of a nickle. Get a new starter (Denso style) you are killing that one.

What batteries do you have in your idi?

Costco (Interstate) 65s / 850. Homer, Alaska I would make sure / make a way that I could get 31s /1000 in there. Use silicone/dielectric grease on the connections.

Lay that wood around your foundations to keep spiders from crawling inside. They can't stand the walnut oils.

Strange humming noise coming from valley pan/bell housing vicinity

Make sure the foam isolator on the cable housing is sitting on/against #8 injector feed line. If cable housing is touching feed line, it will cause noise.

    TAKING BETS! 75k mile 5.4 3v SEIZED

Well, you look to be well equipped to take care of it. Our old buddy at the Dobbs Ford dealership had a lift at his home shop to remove cab for most all his engine repairs. About as tall as yours. Most of his work was diesels anyway & not much room in there. At least the 5.4 is slimmer.

Bad about valve or plug breaking off in cylinder. Valve follower can break off also. Check plugs first then pull valve covers to check valves and followers.
