i dont think so. just make sure there is enough stud sticking out of the head for the nut threads to make full contact. i vaguely remember this happening on mine when i did studs. you also dont want to tighten down the studs into the block.
yes i installed a Detroit locker in a friends 2wd PSD dump truck. he loves it!! has gotten him out of many bad situations. the truck is around 9,000 lbs and he tows his skid steer with it also.

honestly i would go with the cm bed. the other one has a cool custom factor to it but in my opinion is low in the useful department. another thing to add is time adds up quickly trying to re fab a bed and can sometimes not end up being what you expected.

yeah im probably gonna get a banks one for a PSD or something. it pulled that total weigh pretty good and i was in pretty hilly terrain. honestly could use more fuel and thats a 90cc pump and i maxed the fuel screw which wasn't much.
