    Odd lift pump arm wear...?

I was about to ask the same question about why the top side of the arm would wear (and, presumably not the bottom of the arm) if the pump was installed with the arm above the cam. As to running both an electric and a mechanical lift pump, the main problem is that, if the diaphragm on the...

    Craiglist find

There's a transfer case shift lever, although I can't really tell whether there are lockouts on the front hubs or not. I watched the video he linked to, and while you only get brief glimpses, I think I can see lockouts and a front drive axle... :dunno There are also "All Wheel Drive" badges on...

    Odd lift pump arm wear...?

Were you able to look in and see what condition the eccentric on the camshaft is in? It's not uncommon for the fuel pump eccentric on the cam to wear down unevenly, which might cause wear on the arm if the pump was replaced and the arm on the replacement pump rode the eccentric in a different...

Dynomax Ultra Flo - Cat-Back Exhaust System

Joking aside, a cat-back exhaust system actually makes the most sense, since I don't think there are any turbo-back (or manifold-back) bolt-in exhaust systems designed for an IDI available anymore...so, get a cat-back exhaust system for an OBS PSD and it'll go right on to the rear mounts, bend...

    DT360 Into 1988 Ford F-350 cclb

Thank you...I don't know enough about the DT360 to know what pumps were available. From the original post, I made the assumption that the P-pump and the VE rotary pump were the only options, and since he has an inline pump, I assumed it was a P-pump. I stand corrected. I don't know enough...

    DT360 Into 1988 Ford F-350 cclb

Looks like a P-pump to me! ;Sweet As to the advantages of a P-pump over a VE pump...a VE pump is only lubricated by the fuel that flows through it. The P-pump, however, has engine oil pumped in to lubricate it. Also, as I understand it, inline pumps tend to be more robust and hold up better...

What did you do with your VW today?

After the driver's window fell into the door on Christmas Eve, I finally got the window regulator replaced today. ;Sweet I had jury-rigged the window up with tape to get me home from Los Angeles, so I didn't want to drive the car in wet weather...so, she'd been sitting for the last week or so...

    Make my 89 F250 a dual wheel?

Even in '83/84 trucks, they're very rare, but I have seen an '83 F-250 with a factory diesel and semi-floating rear axle with my own eyes. I want to say it had a T-19 and 3.07 gears, but I may be remembering it wrong. Unfortunately, this was back in the days before I had a digital camera, and I...

    4BT Cold Start fail @14°, fail @18°, fail @25°, Success @28°!

Interesting! My first diesel was a Scout...the engine was model SD-33T ('76-'79 Scouts used a non-turbo SD-33), and mine had glow plugs from the factory. Are you saying that the person installed this in addition to the factory glow plugs? With enough battery power, I could see that helping a lot :D

    Make my 89 F250 a dual wheel?

Oops; forgot about the coined rims that the Danas require...given that they're not the easiest things in the world to find, that's a very strong argument in favor of sticking to the Ford axle. Going to edit my original post...

    ZF 5 Trans Tunnel

Do you have any pictures of your floor pan insert? I don't know what a C6 floor panel insert looks like, but here's a ZF insert with a T-19 insert for comparison. I'm including a picture of attempting to install the T-19 insert with the ZF5 in place so you can get an idea of how much...

    Make my 89 F250 a dual wheel?

Those are both Ray Charles deals right there ;Sweet If the Dana 70's out of a '80-'85 Ford, that would work as well (I say up to '85 because that's when Ford transitioned from Dana axles to the 10.25"; any axle out of an '80-'97 Ford F-250/350 pickup will bolt in). The Dana 70 has a 10.5"...

    Make my 89 F250 a dual wheel?

How much weight are you talking about? Unless you're going to go over the GAWR for the rear axle or you're going to load the truck past what the tires are rated for, the biggest advantage to going DRW is that you'll have more stability against sway. One thought would be to outfit the truck the...

    locking hood release?

If you have a key for the locking hood release, or the facilities to rekey it, IMHO it couldn't hurt, although I don't know how much it will really help. If they broke the hood release handle, they may well break the locking mechanism as well...I don't remember how easy it is to do so; my old...

    4BT Cold Start fail @14°, fail @18°, fail @25°, Success @28°!

I second what Scott said about synthetics helping, although I think I'd also go ahead with the dual batteries. IMHO there's no such thing as too much cranking power ;Sweet Also, did you simply not hook up the intake grid heater, or did you eliminate it altogether? If it's still present, any...

    Make my 89 F250 a dual wheel?

Correct ;Sweet Look at laserjock 's picture to see what an aftermarket adapter looks like, and here's what a factory DRW hub looks like: Other than the adapter that's bolted on, it's identical to an SRW hub. And, for the record, here's a shot of a DRW brake drum compared to an SRW brake...

    Make my 89 F250 a dual wheel?

Welcome aboard ;Sweet As Gary said, you have an SRW axle...if you try to put DRW rims in the back, the inner dual will make contact with the spring. You really want to find a DRW rear axle. Adapters will work just fine for the front axle (the OEM DRW front hub is essentially the same...

    4500 rpms in your IDI???

Forgive me; I didn't know the exact number so I made an estimate :) I actually had a feeling it was high, but I didn't want someone going off on me for giving a number too low...on the other hand, I think/hope I still made my point, as expanded on by a few others :)

ordered 2 intake snails! IDIT 1 forsale.

Looking at the diagrams for both the 093 and 088, they're mirror images of each other...so, no, an 093 snail will not fit an 088 turbo or vice-versa. Here's a picture of an 088 snail installed: And, here are both diagrams: 088: http://www.dieselwarden.net/temp/ATS/diagram.jpg (giving...

    Seats Driving Me Nuts!

I'm pretty sure those seats are aftermarket seats that were installed by Western Hauler as part of the interior conversion process (same process as when they added the overhead console, wood trim, etc). mechanical HVAC

    4500 rpms in your IDI???

He's actually not the first person to do it...someone who used to post on here did it with an otherwise stock engine and posted a video. You could hear the valve floating as the RPM's came up. I figure this...that much rotating mass spinning that fast...even with upgraded valve springs...
