Only cranks after being plugged in

For your '85 rig, you'll need Motorcraft ZD-1A spade type glow plugs. The ZD9's listed above are for the 7.3 (except '87 6.9's) bullet type connectors and glow plug system. Heath

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Poor thing is covered in emissions equipment and can't breath worth a darn. Don't want to know how much fuel is used to regen the DPF. The sad thing is the truck has double OD and still gets crumby mileage. I swear only rainbows, wildflowers, love, and artesian water come out of the exhaust...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

I hope it'll do a bit more than groceries. LOL My goal is to haul Dad's Case 1150C track loader. It weighs in right around 26K. Looking at a Gator Made (Kentucky company) 30K tandem or triple dually goose neck to haul it with. It's gonna be close to the 32.5K max towing capacity.:shocked...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

It is certainly an adjustment from both my '86 rigs! LOL Biggest weird things are no stick shift, it's stupid quite, there is no ignition key, and it's MPG sucks!!!! Per the dash fuel economy thingy, I get close to 7 more miles per gallon out of my '86 crew cab IDI. Heath

    Rodney red, Mishimoto or other??

What kind of steaming pile of crap truck can you buy for $850? A lot of IDI owners drive a rig they paid $850 for? LOL Anyway, Jerry builds these radiators individually. No huge factory job. Just a small shop in Evansville, IN. Rip off? That rad is protecting the thousands of dollars of...

    project: watch out Kentuckians

I have the 0.010 reduced compression height pistons on my 6.9. However, my decks were machined 0.007 on the block, so I'm roughly only 0.003 less compression height than stock and it starts very much like a stock internal IDI. I may have sweet little kisses from the valves on my pistons as...

    Rodney red, Mishimoto or other??

I've had my Rodney Red for 8 years now. Love it. No issues or problems at all. Really keep my coolant temps under control when hauling the camper in the summer. I have an intercooler and AC condenser in front of it as well. Coolant temps are not an issue when hauling anymore.:Thumbs Up...

Thoughts on the new Delo 400 SDE API CK-4

Lower zinc in new oil formulations isn't the issue. It's the low phosphorus content. The blue oval doesn't recommend the CK-4 or FA-4 oil in any of its diesels, new or old. Heath

    project: watch out Kentuckians

Again, the lower compression height pistons will give 0.010. Not sure if there is another way to get the clearance you'll need. How about the heads and valves. Have you pulled the valves to look for issues, make sure their in spec? Heath

    project: watch out Kentuckians

Can you put a dial gauge on the block deck and check the different between the top of the piston and the bottom of the valve dent? That's the best way I can think of to know the depth of those contact marks. Heath

    2017 Oilburners Rally

No head count yet. I'd like to run up there and look at all the sites reserved and make sure there aren't any issues with them (bad trees, tight spots, or whatever). Also get a list of who's coming and where they'll be so I can share with everyone. Plus, there is still the issue of the...

How deep are the deformations on your pistons? Less than 0.010? If so, Mahle reduced compression pistons would clear. Heath

OH MY!!!! Think the cam change was the piston/valve culprit? Missing metal on the piston crowns? EGT's kiss 1200 range much? Heath

    Project Ethel

The 38 gallon I got was painted grey/silver, so I didn't paint it. There isn't really an easy way to do this with the bed on. I had to bust all the bed bolts loose, bust loose the fifth wheel rail bolts, and put the bed on wooden blocks to have the room. I love having double tank capacity in...
