Wait till that turbo spools up with a load on the truck. Hope you like the sound of a turbo. These ball bearing Garretts whistle like construction workers at a lingerie model. Heath

    Missing And Smoking

I fear this is your issue. Likely the reman'ed injectors are leaking, poor pattern, and/or low pop pressure....... or the reman'ed pump is already out of spec..... or both are causing problems. If it ran well initially and is now progressively worsening and the IP won't hold it's timing...

    Missing And Smoking

Where did you get your rebuild IP and injectors from. Quality rebuild parts are hard to find. Smoking and missing.... timing, poor quality IP and or injectors come to mind. Heath

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Same as last year.:sorry: No plans from me. Mel was the T-shirt guy for all those years. He's been too busy to mess with them anymore. It's a lot more work and time than I have right now too. Any volunteers? LOL Heath

That's the axle. There must be Dana marking/casting I'm not seeing. So it's M300 rear and Super 60 front. Heath

    Tire help for Diego

I agree that tires on a haul rig or camper are not the place to get marginal quality. My experience with tire problems (especially camper tires) has been they almost always happen when tire shops are closed (nights/weekends). A failure while hauling can be catastrophic i.e. a wreck/damage that...

    Hard Start When Hot

As asked before........... The no start issue..... will the issue only happen when the truck has sat for while (hour or so)? Will it start if you immediately try it after shutting it off? I'm in KY. If you're close, maybe I can help. Scott is right. Call Mel back. Heath

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Well Calvin, I'm confused now. Is Ford making the rear for the F450's? The diff cover has FoMoCo stamped on it. No Dana markings that I can find on the axle. I've looked for axle model information on the 2017's, but found jack squat so far. The front is a Dana. Looks like every 60 I've...

Ranger Overdrive Torque Splitter looking 4 Personal Expierence

The WV hills are mountains. They're no joke. I hauled the fifth wheel through a portion of WV this past summer. One really long and steep climb, I was down to 3rd underdrive with the RPM at 2500+ moving at 35MPH. I was going slow, but I was going. Talked to a good friend of mine who has...

Ranger Overdrive Torque Splitter looking 4 Personal Expierence

Yup, that's what is available for me when towing. For a 30+ year old truck, it does a good job of moving the 5th wheel down the road. Heath

    Hard Start When Hot

The no start issue..... will the issue only happen when the truck has sat for while (hour or so)? Will it start if you immediately try it after shutting it off. Fuel pressure gauge you can hook up at the filter head and see what it's doing? Where in KY? Heath

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Good deal man. Mel did a formal timing clinic for years at these events. He would literally time trucks for hours in the boiling hot sun under boiling hot truck hoods. God bless him for that. He sacrificed a full day of his vacation year in and out to help fellas have a properly timed rig...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

The 2016's had the front loading pumpkin 135. I crawled under and had a look. It's isn't a front loader. But, I couldn't see the model stamped or cast onto the chunk anywhere. I do know it's stupid big. LOL. I'll try and look a bit more. I had to leave to go to Heidi's softball game and...

    Hard Start When Hot

Did you open the filter bleeder with the engine running (when there should be fuel pressure there) or when is was off (no pressure)? Mechanical or electric lift pump? Have you tried the ice the IP trick? Meaning, when it won't start when hot, place a bag of ice water on the IP and let the IP...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Don't think any attendee's have timing equipment to bring. We've not had a timing clinic at a Rally in several years. IF someone has the equipment, wants to bring it, and time rigs for folks, I haven't heard them say so, but they are certainly welcome to. Something always breaks and trucks...

    What all to include

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're just wanting to know if you can continue to use your current oil for more mileage, then just the basics. But, if you are changing it regardless and what to know the general "health" of you IDI, tell them the details you mentioned. Fresh engine...

    project: watch out Kentuckians

Don't know for certain, but I think the firewalls are the same between bull and brick nose rigs.... I had to move mine much more forward and up from where the banks turbo was to clear the firewall. Also had to mod the intake manifold as well. When are you gonna drop it into the truck? Might...

    Project Big Red

I'm sure I missed it somewhere, but did you rebuild or refresh the T-case? What shape was the speedo drive gear in? Most (all really) of my speedo problems have been drive gear problems. Those suck cause you have to tear down the t-case to mess with it. But, sounds like you gotta get into it...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

I'll have to crawl under it and see what axle they are using now. Supposed to be heavier than previous. Who knows. I'll see what is stamped on the axle. LOL The 4.30 gearing is pretty low, but I plan on using it. I have 100,000 miles/6 years on the engine warranty. The only thing I'm...

    Facet fuel pump users question

The facet on my 6.9 crew cab has worked great. Even hauling I don't see less than 4 psi. Normally in the 6 range. The facet I had on my 7.3 F250 never was worth a crap. No fuel pressure. I bought a Holley red knock off that was on sale at Advanced to replace the Duralift. I've been running...

    New clutch slipping.

The bolts that hold the flywheel to your crank should be sealed. The threads don't dead head. They go all the way through the crank and are in the oil bath of the engine. Oil certainly could get past these and onto your flywheel/disk/pressure plate. Heath

Ranger Overdrive Torque Splitter looking 4 Personal Expierence

I have a 460 ZF5 (after typ4 mods) and a US Gear underdrive on my 6.9. It gives me a deeper first and reverse for hauling and I can underdrive it as well which really helps getting a load going. Heath
