    2017 Oilburners Rally

Jared, that OD 6 speed will be worth the trouble. Think you can swap on a push TOB rather than having to fab up a pull TOB? Heath

    2017 Oilburners Rally

We are thinking about for going the potluck dinner and all going to a local non franchise restaurant called The Whistle Stop! We have 2 options! Either get there at 11:00 when they open and eat lunch and everyone order off of the menu or we can reserve the banquet room and have a buffet type...

    Redline CV-2 for wheel bearings?

Never tried it. I have used Mobil synthetic on my wheel bearings with good success in the past. I had a wheel bearing fail on my in West Virginia heading to Mel's rally in 2011. I changed it out in a parking lot of a school with a claw hammer and 1/2 inch drive ratchet for a punch. Real fun...

'86 did have bolt in piston cooling jets. I've had my '86 apart a few times and they are bolt in. Heath

    Can't get cooling system clean

X 2 Ditch the stock block drains for some petcocks. Makes draining the block a breeze. Other suggestion, get a coolant filter. I prefer one that is precharged with DCA/SCA. It clears the junk out of the coolant and keeps it treated at the same time. Heath

    project: watch out Kentuckians

My experience has been the same Elijah. No lag and plenty of boost to keep the smoke down. I would only consider dropping a size on the turbine A/R if I knew I would never haul anything with my rig. Hauling the camper, the EGT's are much more manageable with the larger turbine. EGT's drive...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Got it corrected. Thanks. Likely Makers Mark. Good to have you guys. Thanks man! Hope it isn't a head gasket. Glad you can make it again. LOL Chris, us too. That and too many activities limits time to relax and socialized is the reason I'm keeping the planned group stuff to a minimum...

    Hard brake pedal in mornings

As posted above, there is either a leak (could be vacuum hose under the hood or in the dash somewhere, the new booster, or somewhere else) or a poor pump. Had the same issue with my '86 crew cab. Had a weak pump and cracked line in the dash. Heath

    7.3 idi cooling system problem

If you don't find anything wonky with the fan clutch (you can hear it with it's locked...), I'd just get a plug timer, set it to turn on 2 or 3 hours before you leave for work, and plug the block heater in. Still won't be hot enough to warm the cab immediately, but it will start blowing warm...

    2017 Oilburners Rally

OK, I have the names with reservations under the Oilburners Group at the campground.... Don't have site numbers yet. I'm needing a rough head count so I can give folks at the Go Kart track and Distillery an idea of how many will be with our group. So here is who the campground has as part of...

    What order should I upgrade...

I'd start with fuel first. Like you said, timing is important. Then Turbo. Question is..... which IP? If you know you are going to turbo the rig, an IP specifically calibrated for a turbo would be better. So getting a turbo calibrated IP may make your NA rig smoke excessively and give...

    7.3 idi cooling system problem

Where is your temp sender? Are you wanting the coolant temps up for heating the cab in the cooler mornings? You can cheat and plug the block heater to a timer and have it set to come on a couple of hours before you usually leave. A old piece of cardboard in front of radiator works too. LOL...

    Egt questions

Nah, Not high. NA IDI's will make some higher EGT's. My 6.9 ran significantly higher average EGT's NA than it does now with a Bull Moose, injectors, and turbo. Heath

    Project Big Red

Nah. I just bolted the Banks oil block to the center section and hooked the old banks oil feed line to it. You're correct in that our rigs don't put out lots of oil pressure. I know what pressure my turbo is seeing because I "T'ed" the feed line and have my oil pressure gauge hooked up there...

    Overheating

What does your coolant temp run normally? Has it been getting hot before this happened? I agree with the above post, these rigs warm up when they are worked hard. Not seen my IDI's ever get warm at idle. Not heard of it before either. When you said it wouldn't start, was it turning over or...
